~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hi everyone I am one of the volunteers here to help you through this experience :) I know how hard this is for so many of you. And as hard as it is to believe the boot camp time will pass pretty quickly. I always say the days drag by but the weeks pass quickly. I was a mess when my daughter was there. I didn’t have much time to prepare as she was only in DEP one month and then she was gone. I was always wondering what she was doing and how she was. But it all turned out great and it is so hard for me to believe it has been more than three years. Now she is a Sailor and is married to a Sailor and they just had their first baby/my first grand baby :) She was born July 24th and I was there <3 She is simply perfect and has already stolen my heart. :) After more than three years on this site I am still here helping others get through this experience and I love it. If you have any questions or concerns please just let us know. We are here to help you :) And please feel free to send me a friend request if you like. I am happy to help in any way I can.
I booked our room this morning also at the Navy Lodge. We called several airlines and they did not offer any discounted rates. I have not yet booked our flights. I am scared to as I have heard the rates are horrible to change them and with the govt. shut down I am unsure if his graduation date will change.
Good Morning All.... Ok so I Googled Navy Lodge...look at me go, not even a full cup of tea yet and have booked my room for my husband daughter and myself. I must admit I can't do anything without getting choked up. I look forward to meeting you all. Anyone else Ship 14/Div 20 yet? I'm waiting on booking airfare until I get the letter.....Anyone have any ideas about which airlines to look at....do any of them offer discounts to family members trying to get to graduation on a budget?
allboyz: That's great! Please keep learning, reading all you can on here. There is lots of info in the different groups. It does help with the anxiety of them being in bootcamp to educate yourself! :-)
The form letter sometimes can take 2 weeks or longer to be received :-( Hoping that won't be the case for you all. If you need an address to write to, your recruiter will have one. HOWEVER, remember that they can be moved (the entire division) sometimes early on and the recruiter may not have updated info right away. So...if your form letter doesn't come within 10 days, and you want to use the recruiter's address for your SR, go ahead. The mail will get there, even if their address changed...just may take longer for them to track down your sailor (division number is the important part!). If possible, wait for the form letter to mail your letters. You can have them all written...ready to mail when an address comes. Check the recruiter's address with the form letter's when it arrives. If they are different, the form letter is the correct one.
Also, remember that they will not be given mail for about the first 2 weeks of bootcamp, until the Recruit Mail Petty Officer is trained for their division.
Good Morning All !
Haven't has my morning tea yet....spell check...Navy Lodge?? Thanks
Navy Lodhe?? Can anyone give me contact info so I can start looking and booking....thanks so much. I got and went through my box yesterday, a bittesweet moment. I miss him so much but i know he is doing what he has always wanted to do. Thank again ALL of you for your words of support and great ideas and answers. Speaking of which...one more question....can we send pictures? Thanks!
Thanks diannep for answering my question about the divisions. I am just trying to keep myself busy, and I find the more I learn about the Navy the better I feel about this whole adventure.
