N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Happy PIR Day!  Hope many of you are walking into PIR Hall right now.  Enjoy this very special day!  Congrats to your sailors!

Beth:  Just take ID to the airport with you when you meet your sailor on Saturday morning for the gate passes (all in your group need ID).  You can plan to arrive there between 3-4 a.m. and get the gate pass then from the airlines.  Should be no problem.  I suggest that you take a nap after you drop him off at RTC on PIR Day....then head to the airport!  The first flights out can be around 6 a.m. but most of the sailors will be waiting longer than that.  They are bussed out in the wee hours of the morning to wait for flights.  So sorry you aren't going to get the entire weekend with him.....but hopefully he will have a later flight on Saturday and you get some extra time with him at the airport.

my sailor just called me last night and told me the same news Beth.  I am so shocked and upset still but I am trying to keep strong and be happy for him so he doesn't worry about it and feel guilty.  He just kept apologizing last night on the phone while I was crying.  It was so heartbreaking.  We all just need to keep our spirits up!  I am just so thankful to at least have a day to see him and be with him.

diannep can you please tell me what I need to do to get gate passes to wait with my sailor until his plane leaves?  up until last night he thought he was staying in Great Lakes for his A School and is now being flown out early Saturday morning to Connecticut.  We had planned to be with him all weekend and I am now a little flustered at the change in plans and want to be properly prepared! Thank you!

Good Morning All !  Safe travel today!  Enjoy the MeetandGreet tonight...and remember to be EARLY for PIR tomorrow.

Hint from Sarge:  If driving to RTC, stay to the LEFT on Buckley.  The line of cars to get into RTC will be on your right.  Bypass RTC and turn around in the train parking lot (or nearby) which is right past RTC.  Approach RTC from the opposite way and it should be an easy left turn into RTC...no lines!  :-)  Since only 10-15 percent of SRs are represented on N4Moms, this is "privileged" info for you all!  Most will not know to do this.   Don't forget your ID and gate passes, and don't forget to plan on meeting your sailors at the airports, again with ID so you can get the airlines gate passes to wait until planes depart!
