So I started looking at airfare...if we book now it's only like $250, but its recommended to do a refundable fare - it's only $800+!!! Holy smokes. So anyone with some experience have recommendations on what to do? We can't afford $800 - there are 4 of us, and I really don't want to wait until a few weeks before because it will be exensive as well.

Iowa...bet I know what that problem was right there. Our recruiter told us that it doesn't matter what you told the recruiter when you hit Great Lakes everything started again. So if he did not have the information with him then, he would have had to open a new account.

Anything they could use against the recruit or tease them about, even something as simple as a birthday, an anniversary, or a special nickname that perhaps couples have between each other. As we get letters, if one of our recruits complains about something or an RDC and we ask each other if our recruit said that then that would be something that the RDC may say something about. Here is what I think we can do....let's wait another week and then consider taking the group private. By then everyone will have gotten their letters and things. At that point anyone who wants to join will have to give me some identifying information that I won't list here for obvious reasons, I'll check it out and allow them in. That way we can protect our recruits to some extent. Now I did do some research and those families who have recruits in sensitive jobs that require secruity clearances and stuff like SEALS and BUDS I think and other such stuff have to be very careful even if we go private, because when security clearances are done, those people have access to everything. I just say that because I think forewarned is forearmed.

Can someone tell me what info RTC's are looking for? What shouldn't we be saying?

I'm for the privacy.. thats crazy! we don't need our boys getting in any trouble!! Hey also, Lynne.. I appreciated you writing what is going on this week. I'd love to know what he's up too! I also have begun sending him quizzes.. good way to get to know what he's going through!
Comment by Lynne on September 18, 2010 at 9:29pm
They are not supposed to read what is on here but they do....I have heard that many times...so loose lips sink ships...that is why i offered the option about taking this group private...it wouldn't be 100 percent guaruntee of protecting our boys but it would be better!
