This is the final test for your recruits. When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

My SR said in a letter dated 13 Dec, that tomorrow is P3-and PTing shall begin!
I am so confused! (she arrived at BC on 7 Dec.)
Oh, by dates, NYE is not a training day, nor will they have training on Presidents Day, or MLK Day. By the time she gets to PIR her division may only be on day 7-2.
My son left boot camp for A-school in Pensacola on day 7-5, even though he had been there for 10 weeks. He lost two weeks to holiday processing, and nearly a week to other holidays.
The holiday schedule turns the rules topsy-turvy and confusing.
Divisions MUST do BS21 before they can PIR, occasionally only two nights before PIR. If they aren't done with training by PIR, they will stay for a few more days after PIR to finish anything not done before. My son had two more days of necessary training after PIR, and left for Pensacola the Wednesday after PIR.
If the RDCs know ahead of time that their division will be PIR'ing early, they cram as much extra training into P-days as is allowed, to get some of the training done before training days actually begin.
Usually 30-50 recruits per group do not pass Battlestations, and have to do it again. The vast majority pass on their second try. Some get that last chance the night before PIR. Because they are up all night, those who did battlestations Thursday night, they do not take part in PIR. There is too much risk in them passing out due to exhaustion. They are seated in a special area and are allowed to watch PIR, then are released for liberty weekend with the rest of their division. If this happens to your recruit, s/he will probably want a long nap in your hotel room before doing anything else.
My daughter got there on 12/8 ... on 12/24 she sent back a questionairre saying that she was still on day 1-1 and her training wouldn't start until Monday (12/27). If I count right ... and if they didn't get any time off on NYE, that means she would be on day 2-1 today ... which would mean that on 2/11 she'll be on 7-5.
ARWEN - I'm assuming they HAVE to pass BS21 before PIR? So should I expect that my SR will have 5 training days to complete after PIR, but she'll be done with BS21 and it will just be "formality"? Is there any time to "make up" training days?
