This is the final test for your recruits.  When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

I've been busy watching PIR videos on YouTube, to get an idea of what kinds of things to video (seems like very few people get the "garage door" opening ... that would be VERY cool, even though division 073 won't be first in .... what I've found is that the parents that do close ups on their kids don't have nearly the cool video of the whole "feel" as the ones that get a wider shot --- just a thought ...

As for pay, my daughter's went in around 12/28 or so as well (we have a joint account so that I can handle things while she's gone) ... and she got more than I was expecting as well ... does anyone have the low-down on what that first paycheck included?  Is it December AND January's pay?

As for phone calls, none from my SR in division 073 yet --- but as of Christmas Eve, they were still on training day 1-1, even though she's been there since December 8.  Not sure how exactly they will be done by 02/11 ... Arwen?  Can you shed any light?

They usually have to be back at base by 8pm each night unless they have a scheduled watch which is usually for 2 hours at some point during the weekend. Not all of them will have watch though.

Processing time can varry. It could take a few days or a week or even longer if they are trying to fill up a division.

Arwen, Thanks for the info.  Do you know how long processing takes?  Is it a whole week or just a few days?  My son arrived at GL on December 13th.  Just trying to get an idea when to expect the 3 week call.  Thanks.

I wanted to share some picture taking advice. When you get in the ceremony hall take pictures and see what settings on your camera give you the best results. Don't take pics outside the hall they can take away your camera and you don't want that to happen.

Yes the Meet & Greet at Anastasia's is from 6-9 PM, however we can stay as late as 10-10:30pm.

The Meet and Greet at the Ramada is from 6-8PM.

Proud USA Mom:  I think you meant to say that the MeetNGreet ends around 9 PM,not AM.  :-)  I want to make sure that people know it is an evening event.  The official hours are 6-8 pm, but they are very "Navy" friendly and are good about welcoming all to stay longer.

doulak:  That is what we were told about Navy Fed too.  I never checked with my son about it, but was told that with accounts at Navy Fed, the deposits are posted a day earlier than with other banks.

Hello Everyone = The meet and Greet info is posted in a discussion above.   I was informed that they usually end them at 9am, however they won't toss us out until 10, 10:30 at the very latest.  As for pictures, we have a really good camera and I will be more than happy to share photos with everyone via email.  It will be a matter of organizing and gathering email addresses from everyone there.  Along with the name tags, I'll bring a guest book for everyone to sign and once I get home I will be happy to scan it and email it and photos to anyone who will want them so we can all keep in touch.  I'll even organize the guest book by divisions to make it easier for people.  If anyone on here is not planning to attend the meet and greet and/or cannot attend due to travel issues, just PM me and (with your permission) I will add your info to the guest book and include you when sharing information.
