This is the final test for your recruits. When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

Good Monday everyone!!! You know what that means?? A new mail week. I still haven't recieved a letter or a phone call from my recruit, but today starts a new week and who knows, right?? I am glad Christmas is over and done. Did some crying Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but yesterday I felt a little
better. Today is sunny in Northern Illinois and actually makes me feel a little better today. Our recruits will have a break from all the snow by the end of the week. We are expecting rain and 50 degree weather by Friday. Hey, this is Illinois and well our weather is very unexpected.
Hope Monday brings letters to those still waiting. If not there is always Tuesday.
ok, just got some information from my SR's GF, she got 6 letters over the weekend. He says he is doing fine, staying out of trouble and keeping his mouth shut (apparently some are not). He says the beds are awful. The other guys are nice and that he is with a couple of friends from home, that there are a lot of guys from Texas and that he catches himself saying "y'all". He says the shots were not that bad, except for the last one that felt like hot fudge! Yes he is folding and making his bed a lot, taking 35 sec showers and getting dressed with soap still on his body. He is looking forward to pre-buds, and that the time is going by faster than he thought. He is also very cold, said that his eyelashes froze when he shut his eyes, and the only water he sees is frozen.
I am so glad that he is doing well and adjusting to BC. I hope today is my day for a letter!
Good Morning All,
I hope everyone had a great Christmas even without our SR's here with us to celebrate. I have been off for a couple days and trying to catch up on everything left here and it seems some have had some great news.
I wanted to share with everyone that I got a call from my husband on Saturday morning right after we finished opening presents. We got to talk for 30 minutes and it was amazing. He got to talk to our boy and they both cried with each other on the phone. It was so cute and sad. They miss each other so much!!! He said that he is a grad and go...BOO! So I only get Friday afternoon with him as he leaves for Groton, CT on Saturday for sub school. He did say they were getting a nice Christmas dinner and a lady came around with a cookie cart for all meals of the day. He said Friday they had holiday PT and were doing the same Saturday morning from 7-1. This means they can shine boots, iron clothes, write letters, but cannot get rowdy or sleep. He told me he is Master at Arms for his division which made me really proud! Then we just did some regular talking. he said there are letters coming so keep a look out. He said to send some pictures, lots more stamps, and small envelopes. (I am putting another calling card in there too!) He said they start IT this week so he was not looking forward to that. He said for me to tell you all to keep sending the letters as all the guys and girls look forward to them and he said right now they really need it! So I wanted to give you all an update and when I hear more I will let you all know. I hope everyone has a Happy new Year and bring on 2011!
Thanks for letting me share - April
There is a shuttle/taxi parking area just inside the main gate. There are almost always taxis (and sometimes a limo or two) waiting there for recruits or families. And yes, the limos charge the same as the taxis.
Be careful, if you are the only one out there, the taxi drivers will literally fight (verbally) over you, making competitive offers and getting in each others' faces. It happened to me, and totally weirded me out. But you can get a GREAT deal on a ride when they do that, LOL.
