dinnep- I love that song also, I cry everytime  too! I am sorry to hear about your husband, he is watching and taking care of all of you. I am sure he is very proud of your son.

Linda B and Just T, I know exactly how you both feel, and no Wednesday is not just a normal day anymore either...

keger:  They played that song at my son's PIR 1.5 years ago.  It is a very specail song to us because my hubby/his father passed away just 6 days after 9/11.  My son knew how much his father loved his country, so he asked that it be sung at the memorial service.  So tears everytime we hear it !  It is truly a wonderful song.

keger-that must have been the "capping" ceremony. This is where the SR's that have passed Battlestations become Sailors! They remove their caps that say "Recruit" and are given new ones to wear that say "Navy". It's very moving for most of them.

Oh...to be a fly on the wall...and at the same time they earned it and it belongs to them.

Can't wait either. I'm driving about 14 hours with my kids and mother in-law. July 15th can't get here soon enough.
