Welcome Lindee!
I'm one of the veteran moms!
It looks like you are brand new to Navy for moms :-). If you look over to the far right...yup...yup...way over there...then up…that second dark blue bar down that says, “First Time Here?". Underneath it is a link to the community guidelines for Navy for Moms. There you can read all about how the site operates and there will be another link for something called, "OPSEC". Operational Security. This is a very important one to go to. Like Sandy said this is a very public forum...anyone can read the posts in the groups.
OPSEC is to keep our Sailors safe...that's why we don't allow last names on here. Its good practice for when your SR (Seaman Recruit) becomes a Sailor and is out in the fleet etc. ESPECIALLY if he has a high security rating. So I would copy your post, delete your SR name and repost. First names ARE allowed but not recommended. We usually just say, "My SR...” If you have a picture of your SR plus a name he will be easily identifiable. As Sandy said, the RDC's do get on here and read the posts; we just had a couple linked up with their "moms" on another group. One has to do 5 push-ups for every time his mom posts!
When you "friend" other "moms" and send messages those are secure. Only you and the friend you email can see it.
Hope that helps. Please ask ANY questions you might have...there are no dumb ones! There are several veteran moms on every PIR group who have already been through Boot Camp (BC) and your fellow moms that have been with this group from the get go!
Ladies,
Grad-n-Go information posted in the discussion area.
Lindee, Hi welcome to the group. Please don't post your son's last name unless it is via personal message on NavyForMoms. This is not a secure page. Not only that but the RDCs read posts on here.
Ladies, please don't forget to go to the BattleStations discussion group above. Then once there, click on the link in the group to read about BattleStations. What they actually do in BattleStations is confidential....they sign a confidentiality paper...but you will get an idea of the organization of it.
Gidget: Here is the website to order the division tshirts:
Click on Enter, then on the TRAVEL DISCOUNTS/Recruit Grad tab, then scroll down to MAIL ORDER FORM. There are phone numbers on there if you have any questions.
