Terrysproudmom:   He should know his A School address right when he arrives...so he can get it to you pretty quickly.

Thank you Sharon AProudSailorMom.  I really do appreciate it.  I know all the Mom's here know how hard it is to feel good when you know your kid is sad.  I had gotten use to the idea that he might have to wait to "class up" at Port Hueneme I know he is sad about having to "class up" at RTC when all his friends are leaving.  I have asked on the next group if they have future Sailors headed there.  I also hate the idea that we won't see him off at the airport.  He was looking forward to his cell, ipod, clothes.  Now we won't be able to give them to him.  Anyone know how long it is before they know their address a A school so I can send this stuff to him?

Terry - after PIR, your Sailor won't be in boot camp - it will be THU (temporary hold unit).  They will still have duties, but it's not boot camp.  Most don't know their orders (and they CAN change) until the day before PIR.  The roller coaster of emotions is amazing - when you get the "I'm a Sailor" call tomorrow, your tears will be of joy!  Sending you and him all the best!

There are not enough words to express how wonderful PIR was this past weekend.  It was great to meet so many of you at the meet and greet on Thurs.  Also a big thank you for those that set it up at the new location do to Ramado being with out electric.  I hope to continue to tlak to some of you even though our Sailors may be in different places.  We so enjoyed our son and to get to visit and catch up with the happenings.  It was nice to get to meet his "mates" also.  Good luck to all our Sailors as they serve our country and start a ne life in the Navy.

Got a letter today.  My SR was sad.  First BS got moved to tonight instead of last night.

The had their deserts taken away from them (didn't say why).

Orders for departure say he will be at RTC until 30JUL.  Eight extra days at boot camp and he hates that...his shipmates will all be moving on he drew a sad face.

So for me it is like going through battlestations twice and waiting 2 days in a row for that call...I have been sick all day.   just can't wait to see my boy/man/Sailor

Momof2 - What a delightful story.  I am thrilled to hear it.  I was also pleased to meet you.

Terry - Believe me, when you get to see your SR, the smell won't be that noticeable.  LOL  I hope you have a super duper time.  My SR just wanted to lay around and take it easy and we did the mall and a movie and the pool and hot tub which was wonderful.  We loved every second of it.

Hi trucka'smom,  It was very nice meeting you at the meet and greet.  It was a wonderful weekend!  We were blessed with the whole weekend and I am so grateful for that.  We didn't get home until 2am, but it was worth it to get to spend time with our son.  You are right about having more contact with them.  That makes me very happy.  My husband and I were talking about the church service yesterday.  Seeing all those recruits at church was wonderful.  I just wanted to go hug them for their mom's.  :)

My family stayed at the Residence Inn Waukegan and it was very nice.  We had a very comfortable living room with a sleeper sofa/kitchenette and separate bedroom.  They serve complimentary breakfast each morning.  They also have a shuttle service to the PIR.  Very nice place.  PIR weekend was wonderful and went by way toooooo fast.  We met many of the other Sailors in my son's Division and they really seem like a wonderful group of young men.  It's so nice knowing now that at least we can communicate via cell phone, computer and skype!

Just a shout out to all of you!  I'm so glad that your PIR was great.  My son did B/S with DIV 816.  (He was in FIT, so he didn't PIR) I saw him at the airport before he shipped out to Pensacola.  He said that your sons were a great bunch of guys.  Thanks again! Best to you all.
