Thanks, but I can't take credit for the scarf idea, as we borrowed that idea from other "veteran" moms.  lol

dorielee- I have part of your info for your ribbon order for the ribbons to wear to the meet and greet and PIR. I am missing some of your info and I just wanted to make sure that your email with the remaining information had not been lost in cyberspace somewhere lol. You can send me a message on here or to my email: uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com to send me the rest of your information. 4 people in this coming weeks PIR waited too long to order for Priority shipping and are now choosing to pay for Express shipping but it is a lot more expensive ($15.00 extra for their order) and I don't want anyone else to have to pay that extra money if they don't have to :-)

Brandon'sMom;  All of the RDCs are different about what they "raz" the guys about and what they don't.  Some may have to "drop and give me 20" for a blue envelope...while with others, there is no problem.  We just like to stay on the "safe side."  Don't worry...the card will mean more to your SR than anything he had to do to get it!  Believe me!  They LIVE for mail....so send lots of it!

Letters may be coming this week for this PIR group.  They could be writing them as I am typing this!   We can only hope!  :-)

Linda:  They are usually allowed to write after they have been there for 2 weeks.  Usually the first day they have time to write is Sunday.  So today may be her day to write!  Fingers crossed....

My son is Ship 07 Div 229!!

He reported to bootcamp on May 18.  His wife received the "box" on May 24 & the form letter on May 31.  She also received a quick call on June 1 because my son needed his son's Social Security Card faxed to him.

I haven't received any letters or phone calls yet!!  Still waiting patiently!!  I did put a card & letter in the mail yesterday.  I saw a post where it said to stay away from colored envelopes.  Oops!!  I wish I would have seen that yesterday!! LOL!!  I heard about not sending musical cards but didn't know about colored envelopes.  I had given my son a card at his going away party and he wanted me to send it to him as soon we got his address since he couldn't take it with him.  My son's friend reported to bootcamp on May 17 and his wife received a letter from him on June 3 & 4.

Hopefully I will get a letter soon!!  =)

Just thought I would add to the M&G comments.  If you want to find each other, another good way to distinguish yourselves from the crowd is to wear a scarf of something similar in the same color.  Our PIR group from Navy4moms wore hot pink when we attended PIR and the M&G.  We knew immediately from a distance that we were from our Navy4Moms group.  It was so much fun seeing the hot pink in the crowd and introducing ourselves to each other.  You have plenty of time to decide on a color or an item to do that.

Todd'smom, why are you feeling so uptight?  This is emotional for all of us, and stressful, yes.  Are you nervous in general or is there something specific about America's Best Value Inn that has you feeling uptight?  The "right place" is being there for your son, so I'm trying not to worry about the specifics but I do feel a little nervous in general as well.  I haven't received a letter or phone call yet either, and I know we'll all feel better when we do.  I'm so grateful I found this forum, it's helping me to KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON!  lol

I got a letter 2 days ago.  Had to laugh as by son BH said he did watch duty 2 hours then had to iron for a 1/2 hour in the middle of the night.  Is anyone from the 2/935 staying at the Red Carpet?  It would be nice to get to meet.

cathy:  BoosMom's experience is what most at GL A School get so ... yes....stay through Sunday.  They will move over there right after PIR so you will be without your sailor for several hours (make sure your sailor has a phone card to call you when done...can return to base after that with cell).  They are then under GL A School authority, but should have time with you Sat and Sun (minus any watch time).  You guys are the lucky ones who get lots of time with your sailors!
