AMEN, ohevetbeni. Great advice...and I found it to be so true with my sailor who just wanted to "be with us." We did nothing special (only had PIR day)...but hangout time...drioe around a bit in the beautiful snow-covered area (we S. Floridians are fascinated with SNOW!)...time for him to take a LONG shower (minus fellow shipmates with him!) and relax.
Highlight of the day for me after PIR? When we was driving through a beautiful residential area and ended up in a school pickup line that I couldn't get out of! I was hysterical...my two sons were pitching a fit and highly embarrassed....stayed in it for about 3 minutes before I made a "break for it" and u-turned when I could. I think my sons had hit the floor by that time, not to be associated with such a weird and wacky woman driver! :-) Ahhhh.....so much fun for them to be embarrassed by ME for a change!
Many families who choose a hotel with a kitchen in it (like Residence) cook their sailor's favorite meal when there. Although I stayed there, that was not a request from my sailor...cooking was not my forte! My late hubby used to tell me I was a great "heater upper!" HA!
ohevetbeni: Glad you found Homewood Suites. Those are nice hotels. Lincolnshire is one of the areas we suggest because it isn't THAT far away and like you said, prices can be cheaper, we have heard.
One of the PIR group ladies earlier this year started a group that may help you all with PIR info. Here is the link to it:

ohevetbeni: You may want to put this liink above, either in a discussion group or just as a link above that so it doesn't get lost in the posts. Jessica has also posted some PIR info above in the discussion groups.
