cathy:  There are lots....we stayed at Residence Inn Waukegan and enjoyed it very much.  Springhill Suites and Courtyard Inn are good too...all have PIR shuttle.  Residence has large 2 bdrm 2 bth suites as well as studios.  Both room types have full kitchens. Free buffet breakfast each morning.  Pet friendly.  You can also "google" Great Lakes hotels and find others.  Ramada is where the MeetNGreet will be held the night before PIR.  Make sure to ask for the PIR rate wherever you book.  Welcome to the group!

Wow Linda that is quite impressive. I look forward to hear what she is doing as well. I did get an order today for PIR ribbons from a mom who has a daughter in both band and choir so it could be she is doing more than one thing with all of her talents :-) Just remember they usually perform at a couple of PIR ceremonies before their own and if you make friends with some moms in the 2 PIR groups before your own you can ask them to take pics of whatever she is doing and have them come back and post the pictures. It is a huge relief to see them in a photo. Even though letters are great and phone calls are awesome it just something to your heart to see them in a picture :-)

I just had 3 friend requests from people wanting information on the ribbons to wear to PIR and when I accepted the first one the others disappeared. If you were one of them and I did not respond please send me an email to uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com and I will email you the info for placing an order. Thanks so much :-) This email here is driving me crazy :~{

Hi. I'm Lisa.  My SR is on Ship 07, Div 227.  I received my form letter yesterday.  Was so happy and relieved to see my daughter's note at the bottom.  Have a lot to learn about the Navy and am looking forward to this group.  Anybody else have a SR in this Div?  Would love to hear from you.

Hi Linda and welcome to N4M's, your daughter is in the performing division. She should let you know in her first real letter what she will be doing. The perfroming division has the band, choir, flag corps, and drill team as well as behind the scene workers. Most in this Division have music, band, singing, marching, flag or drill team experience. They can also be chosen for this group because of high ASVAB scores. To be in band or choir they have to try out. It is considered a real honor to be chosen for this division. I think it is a real honor for all the recruits who become Sailors in the worlds greatest Navy :-)

Hi Linda......

I got my form letter yesterday also...I am not so far from you, in Wilmington, DE.  My daughter, first born, will PIR 7/15 Div 228.  It was so great to read those few lines and know that she is in a good state of mind.

Her father actually got a call yesterday, scared me to death!!!  She will ben an IS and had to get her security clearence befroe A school so she was only calling to get information about her step mom.  I am very jealous that he got a call and a voice mail...but at least everything is going well for her!!!!
