Oh wow, juliebelle. Poor thing! Hoping that he feels better soon! Glad he has phased up to independent study hours.
Meegan hopefully you get that letter today - I wasn't expecting one this week at all...she's been there since last Tuesday but it came and that's all it took to get me through another week - she sounded good, strong, with the exception of blisters from her boots - so be sure to send band aids in each letter you send out...keep your chin up girl it's coming!
I'M SO EXCITED GOT MY FIRST LETTER FROM MY DAUGHTER!!!!! She sounds good...and in better shape than most of the girls that are "dropping like flies and literally passing out"...she is also in charge of yelling cadences to the other 80 people in her division!!!! She's little but she's loud!!!!!!!!!! P.S. SEND BAND AIDS FOR BLISTERS
Oh my gosh, I am reading these and it is so hard to not just fall apart. I am so sad today. I need a letter badly. I know we are all in the same boat and all worried about our kids/family members. Please let PIR get here soon!!
Like ellen said we usually recommend you stop sending them about a week before PIR. Sometimes the letters get lost and never catch up with the Sailors. My daughter never received hers. You can also copy any letters you send later and give to them after PIR and read them then.
The mail you send will be forwarded to your "Sailors" at A school if it misses them at BC.
I sent letters until the Saturday before PIR. Letters from me usually took 4 days to get to him. I sent a letter on the Friday before PIR and a card on the Saturday. He got the card before PIR and the letter a week after he was at A School.
So, I guess the answer is who knows...lol. Judge it on how long it usually takes for mail to get there from you.
I suppose the best guess is the week before PIR.Was that clear enough for you...LOL
Here is my question for some of the veteran mom's on here. How far ou from graduation should we stop mailing our letters for fear they will not be received? I guess it really depends on where youlive but is there a general rule tha is lived by?
welcome lo_lo It is always nice to find a daughter who will step in and be the mom when they need to. As much as sisters sometimes could choke their brothers we can also be there to protect and love them like a mother bear :-) We are here and ready for you whenever you have any questions.
CTI, that is so funny about the Q-tips. In one of my first letters my daughter said it was one of the hardest things to live without. She even asked if I thought one would be detected in a letter lol. Glad they were rewarded with such a luxury :-)
Received my first letter from my daughter last night. Was so excited to hear from her. She reports that the food is pretty good and they finally allowed them to shave which all the girls were very happy about. She also reported thathe RDCs handed out Q-tips and all of the girls started cheering. She also says that one of the RDCs is just like her dad....not sure if that is a good thing or not yet...lol. They also had their PFA (physical fitness assessment if I remember correctly from my military days) on Tuesday.
lo_lo60, with a PIR of 7/20 you are in the right spot. I am one of many veteran moms here (one of the newbies at that).
Blessings to you for stepping in and filling your moms shoes at times, not an easy task, I know from a similar experience. Ask all the questions you have, nothing you may ask is unimportant or unusual.
