IM SOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!! I received my first letter from by boy!!!! He wrote it on Sunday the 10th. He actually sounds good which is just such a relief. He did say that some days are tough when people mess up but he is hanging in there! He sounds so grown up, it's amazing! Just wanted to share. Hope everyone else is receiving their letters as well. Fingers crossed! Question though, the return address that he has on this letter is a little different than the one I rec'd on the form letter. Added to this letter is USS Arleigh Burke. Does anyone know if I need to add that and if he will still get the other letters that I mailed that don't have that?
Hall of Fame is quiet an accomplishment Betsy, no wonder he didn't have much time to write. When my daughter was in boot camp there were just two of us from the 936 DIV and the other person wasn't on here much at all. The last week we were joined by one other person. Wooo Hoooo our DIV increased by 50% in one day :-)
juliebelle, lol
juliebelle, I love that picture!
Sailorlady, Woohoo! I love the line about dinner with your family, lol. That's so cool that his friend is writing to you too.
I was also one of those moms who didn't really receive a lot of letters. I received one letter per week and it was always on a Thursday. A couple of letters towards the end were actually only a couple of lines, but I was grateful anyway. My sailor had a lot of people writing to him and he told me that he spent all of his down time writing to everyone. He said he knew that I love him and that I wouldn't get upset if I only got a letter with a few lines. He felt like he should answer each and every letter he received because so many people were so nice to have written to him. :)
As far as phone calls, I truly did believe while my son was in BC that his entire division didn't even exist and often wondered exactly with the Navy did with my son, lol. No one in my PIR group, at the time, ever posted that they had an SR in that division and when all other divisions were getting calls home, my son's wasn't. I think I only received maybe 3 phone calls home. Come PIR imagine my shock and surprise to see that there truly was a division. Oh, and that nonexistent division also won Hall of Fame! It made up for all the missed calls and long letters for sure.
Awesome letters Sailorlady. I know its hard not to get discouraged but I am sure he is writing you every second he has available and your letters are what is getting him through each day. So keep on writing :-)
I have received an email saying several people including you Betsy want to join the PIR group on FB but for some reason they are not showing up on the group for me to add you. i even tried logging out and going back but no luck. Maybe it has to wait for FB to update to show up. I will add you guys as soon as it will let me. So so sorry for the delay.
Meegan, what wonderful timing on getting the letter. ((hugs))
Nick'sWife, good to know the ring is safe on your hubby's finger.
Happy Flag Day Everyone!
Lots of moms/wives/families etc hanging out in this group. Feel free to join us if you like :-) https://www.facebook.com/groups/327167160695549/
