Kym,
That is what I am dreading most.... deployment. I know this is the life he chose, but as a mom, well you guys know how I feel. Sometimes I am so proud and other times I am scared to death, but I will learn to deal with it. My prayers are with you and everyone... We are here for each other
Cindyrb, Has your son completed A school yet? My son told me the name of the battallion? he will be with, but I forgot..
hotflashes,
My son is in Gulfport. He wanted to go to CA because he met a girl, but he is closer to home in MS. He is very bored. Been waiting for CB training since Tgiving. Hope he starts soon. He needs more friends to do things with but it's hard. He wants it to get warm so he can go to the beach. Hope your son likes it once he gets there
Kym,
I am praying for you and your son. I know it's hard. My time is coming later but I guess we all have to go through this. Stay strong and leave it in God's hands. How long will he be deployed?
I agree... It is so hard to accept that the baby boy I held in my arms and nursed moments after his birth is one of those VERY competent military men that I see on TV and the Internet. But he IS...and I have to remember that. He is an expert at what he does and *pat on my back* I helped him get there. Think of the song "Bridge Over Troubled Water".... "Sail on silver girl (boy) sail on by. Your time has come to shine......Oh if you need a friend, I'm sailing right behind..."
Okay, I usually bawl when I hear that song, but it has become my "theme song" about stepping back. There are times when letting go is the greatest act of love there is, and one of the hardest. Try to forget the beautiful boy he was, look with pride at the wonderful MAN he has become...and tell yourself that you did a fabulous job!!!
