Have you heard from your daughter or son?  My daughter is in Div 300 and she sounds good, but tired.  Interesting in hearing how your daughter or son is doing.

Yvone--I got a call this morning, but after a minute of talking to her I handed the phone to her dad so I would not cry on the phone and short circuit it. LOL!!! but she was crying anyway, she is still homesick. I hope with the real PT starting tomorrow she doesn't have time to be homesick. She thinks we don't miss her since she hasn't received any mail. My heart is broken.

OMG couldn't wait to come home and let y'all know "I GOTTA CALL, I GOTTA CALL!!!!!" I was soooo happy to hear his voice, he sounds good. He's been there 7 days.. he said it was a surprise to him that they were allowed a phone call. We talked 14min. My heart dropped when I saw the 847 area code. He has jus been medically cleared to "OFFICIALLY" start BC tommorrow. These are a few things he told me
They go to bed at 8pm
wake up at 4am, Sundays get to sleep in til 6am
He got like 9 shots, and he said his arms and bottom were really sore. (Penicillin, H1N1, HEP)
He said food is alright this morning scrambled eggs and ham with french toast, 10 min max / eat.
showers with 44 others in his Div, 2 stalls with 5 shower heads each, 4min to shave, brush teeth. LOTS and LOTS of yelling and cussing, only physical activity he's done is march 2.5 mi with 60lbs on his back. Still trying to get the bed making down, they have 12min. with certain folds and 45 degree angels, no one has accomplished yet. The officers will yell cause it's wrong then mess up the bed so u have to do it again. Locker inspections if things are not in order they dump um out all over the floor. 1 group of 88 sleep in same barracks, that group makes 2- DIV 295(my son) and DIV 296. They will be graduating in white uniform, I know there are 2 colors depending on season.
I asked as many things as I could remember, I was jus so happy to hear his voice which sounded a little nervous, but didn't admit it. I got really choked up and I tried not to but, I just miss him so much. He also said they have been able to write but were told that no incoming or outgoing mail for 2 weeks. I told him our plans/ reservations were just about completed for graduation, then all of a sudden I hear a loud voice "LET'S GO, LET'S GO". . . then he says "MOM I GOTTA GO I LUV U"
Hope this has hepled some of u with ur mommy questions, like food, showers, rest sleep. I know it eased my mind a little.

kellysmom, Yes I live in Bolingbrook which is about 1/2 an hour west of Chicago. I am taking his brother and sister and grandfather(my father in law) to graduation, his dad, my husband passed away 7 years ago 7-13, not been an easy couple of weeks here with my emotions all up and down. But my kids are younger and I will take them out of school to see their brother graduate. I am excited about graduation too, my son then leaves for San Antonio, but I dont think it can be any hotter in San Antonio than it is here, it has been a week in the 90;s with very high humidity, I keep thinking of how horrible boot camp must be in this heat! Felt guilty at the pool yesterday thinking of what my son must be enduring. Today it looks like rain so maybe if it storms the humidity will ease up!

junjens-- you're that close to GL ??? I'm jealous, I live in MD, about 11 hours away. I'm ready to start driving now. I'm driving my husband and son crazy. I wish we could have more than 4 people at grad, she wants her bf to come instead of her brother, that's ok since he goes back to school 8-30 first day a college for him.. I already have started to count the days down. Now just waiting for a real letter and phone call.

Brett left 12 days ago and today in church was the first time I really couldn't hold back the tears, I wonder why it took me so long. I am very thankful for our group and we are up to 40 members!! woo hoo!
