Susan,
Interesting thing about Northeast Ohio. It's been a little rainy here the last few days but this morning I saw such an interesting sight. Guy outside doing yard maintenence, wearing a winter coat, hat and gloves. It was only 50 degrees out this morning!!! Burrrrrrrr

Good job Nancy... sometimes it just takes someone to make the decision! Be sure to include the address of where you are meeting!

Donna... your son in law was my first thought when I heard this on the news on my way home just now... Good to hear he is all right... my heart goes out to the entire crew and especially the family of the guard who was killed.

Anna, if you are going to pack boxes go to the USPS web site and order the military pack boxes... The USPS will send them to you free along with the customs forms. Be sure to order some of the small boxes also. They are perfect to send a little "I'm thinking about you" package to your favorite sailors!

Hello Anna!!!
That is the beauty of the project.. you can pack your own box or just write a note/letter or bring stuff to pack when we meet! The Western Washington moms met on Saturday and packed boxes together... Only four of us could make it so was a small group this time. The pictures that Donna posted are of our packing party.

This months project is a little different since we are hoping to time the arrival of all the boxes for the 4th of July. Usually people just send boxes as they have them over the course of the month... You can check back on some of the past months discussions. Getting together to see what everyone brings and learn all the secrets to packing things is part of the fun! First tip... everything goes in a ziploc! You would be amazed at what melts in 130 plus degrees. Second tip... don't send food and toiletries together. After sitting together in 130 plus degrees everything tastes like soap or foot powder! Third tip... pack your box full and no room for movement! After being tossed from shore to ship to shore, you can imagine how things get jostled!

Other get togethers we have had a dozen or so moms... There are some of those pictures still on this page a ways back... I see on the Pierce County discussion above they are talking about meeting in June for breakfast. That will be too late to pack boxes for this group in Afghanistan but there is always the next group! Usually we pass around cards or postcards for folks to jot a quick note to include in the next batch of boxes that are sent.

I am still sending to one of the guys from our April group. He started emailing me and there is no way that I won't keep that Navy mom love heading his way! In fact I posted his picture on the Molly's adopt a sailor page this afternoon!

Hope this answers your questions...

Susan Mom to Niko,
I checked out quite a bit of the comments on the Molly's Adopt a Sailor group. It sounds really cool. A couple questions tho' - do we put together our own box and just mail it out or are all these boxes supposed to go at the same time? I know I see where diffferent groups of moms get together and put together boxes - is that the best way to do it?
