Arwen, I'm not a recruiter but ours said years ago, be sure you understand this could end up being your life career, if you reenlist and reenlist then retire with the Navy! So follow your dream! Our son has re-enlisted, and is headed for officer with his Navy-funded college degree. He's in Aircrew and has never regretted his choice to fly with MamaNavy and plans to retire with the Navy too. Hang in there and return as often as necessary to get the desired job. its HER life, HER career, not the recruiter's. "No regrets" -- follow your dream job.

How open are the Seattle MEPS detailers and recruiters to having prospective recruits return multiple times for a specific job? My daughter has her list of five ratings she's interested in, her #1 choice is somewhat "rare,"  and she really, really doesn't want to do anything not on her list. As a veteran who got stuck in the wrong job by detailers who were looking to fill specific holes, I absolutely support her desire to try as many times as necessary to get one of those ratings. I just want to know how much pushback we're likely to get by the recruiting system's need to just get her in a slot and gone.

Hello All, how does your family celebrate Memorial Day weekend? When the boys were in Scouts, we participated in local ceremonies, or helped at cemeteries, or freeway rest areas. being Married to a Navy Vet, (& my mother was a WAVE in WWII) .... it's still an important day for us. What is everybody else doing?? Any yummy meals being cooked ?
