Good Morning to Everyone.
Good Morning to Everyone.
Good Morning to Everyone.
thoughts and fingers crossed for your boy ROTC!
Good Morning to Everyone.
Happy Friday everyone.
We used a cab (Sarge) to go to PIR from the navy Lodge and it was well worth it - no hassles getting there/parking etc. He also has a get together for parents/families the night before and it was nice. I am disabled and he carted us around and kept us informed by email ahead of time (He also arranged for another cab (Mark) when he was booked whom was even more kind and helpful. I no longer have his number but the PIR or Great Lakes groups should have it.
anna: good info there!
RoTcMom,
Since you are driving I will strongly suggest you approach Great Lakes/Waukegan from the North!!! Avoid going through Chicago at all cost!!! I lived in Waukegan, very close to Great Lakes and then moved to the Milwaukee area. Every time we had to drive south through Chicago we would get stuck in heavy traffic, especially on 95!!! I'm talking about taking an hour or longer just to go a few miles!!! Doesn't matter day of the week or time of day!!! Chicago highways are insane!!!!! So if you head for WI take 95 south to Great Lakes and you will get there with a lot less stress. WI is doing some major replacement of 95 through Racine and Kenosha but the southbound lanes were done and they were doing the northbound lanes when we left last December. Even with construction it's better than Chicago!!!! Safe travels and enjoy the trip. All that Storymom says is spot on, the Navy Lodge is basically across 41 from the gates, it's a walk but it can be done if you really want to avoid that wait in the car lane. Cars will start lining up on the far right lane before the gate even opens but then those gate guards are pretty good about getting everyone in on time. Every car is searched so prepare for that as well. You might check to see if the Lodge offers shuttle service. When we went to our daughters PIR we stayed at a hotel that had a shuttle (we weren't living there then) and the driver dropped us off at the walk in gate so we didn't deal with a line. Shuttle then took us and our brand new sailor back to the hotel, even after we took some time to shop at the NEX!!!
Good Morning to Everyone.
