Helo mom...that

is very cool! He spoke at Kaneohe Bay too at the Aircrew base in Hawaii, where our son is stationed, and we saw that on that on TV news...but my son is Here in Washington for the holidays.....so he missed that event. if I was a celebrity..... sports, Hollywood, news, religious, or political, I would call service people AND VETS ALL the time.....just sit down and take the time to talk to a vet or a military man/woman to wish them well, thank 'em & chat. So simple, but can you imagine getting a call from angeline Jolie, Jay Leno, Judge Judy, Russell Wilson, Mia Hamm or Sting?? i would so DO that! Might be some security/privacy issues tho....just a thought from inside my head :--)

Amy.....try flying into Bellingham....could be cheaper? some airlines fly there.....I think Alaska for one? and whidbey Island is a straight drive south, no ferry. The ferry-ride option is: fromSea tac airport, drive north about 45 minutes to catch a 30min ferry at Mukilteo, then once on the island, drive north to Oak Harbor, another 50 min. Oak Harbor has a good assortment off hotels and lodges, and is close to the base. Anybody else know more?

Amy we flew into seattle rented a car took ferry to Whidbey island and drive up to oak harbor. our son  was staying on base so we started on base at navy gateway inn  and suites for Fifty dollars a night.it was nice and clean.  need to meet your sailor at pas and id office just outside the gate to get a pass to drive on base .  We did that and it was fine..need proof of c a r insurance and drivers license only takes a few minutes to get cleared.  We had a great time very peaceful and beautiful we were therein August.
