I had a rental car...but I paid extra for the iPass on it. This is a box (it has an arm that they flipped down...I just left it alone)  that allows you to drive through the iPass lane and it records it and then the toll fees come up later. Sooo...I paid extra to have it on the car...I was looking for "ease of travel" rather than ease on my wallet! I somehow knew I would be driving a lot...and I was right! The toll fees came through a little while after I got back home.

I had brought a bag full of change with me ...just in case though! LOL

TY flgirltwo! And thank you also for coming on and helping on the PIR groups/!We always welcome new moms! We love the company! We like to keep our info up to date and then there are a lot of "attention to detail' things that we may miss! We try but sometimes certain things stand out for one person that may not have to another!

I would recommend Trattoria Pomigliano in Libertyville for Italian food (not a pizza place). The food is great and lots of it, you can get half orders on most items and the prices are reasonable. This is one of the places that Sarge recommends and we really enjoyed it. If you are going to go there call and make a reservation and allow your selves plenty of time to eat and enjoy. Ask if Nick is there and tell him Sarge sent you over.

Someone had mentioned a local Italian place in the GL area?  Something like Giodornos? Need details or suggestions?

Be very careful not to drive through the tolls or take the express toll which takes a pic of your license and gives you 7 days to pay or you get a $100 fine!!! Yes, lots of change is a must. Dollar bills are helpful too!

flgirltwo, Wow, I didn't know that about the tolls.  That's good information to store in our minds to pass on to all the groups.  Thanks!

flgirltwo - Thanks for the info!! Very helpful...I was wondering about that and wanted to be prepared.

Just a thought for those of you driving to PIR.  Take lots of change!  The toll booths are killers.  They don't all have attendants, they don't all take visa/mc.  They don't all take bills.  Some are .65 cents up to 1.90!  We had to "run" a toll booth.  You have to go online and pay it (so remember the name or # of the toll booth you run) or they will bill you $100 and it progresses from there.  If you run one and have rented a car - they charge the card you rented the car with.  You have 7 days to pay online.  It's really quite unbelievable!  So just take lots of nickles, dimes and quarters!

cathie - Congrats!!  It must have been awesome!  Can't wait to have that same wonderful moment....
