Good Morning Everyone! How excited is everyone for Friday? It's worth the wait! Hard to believe, but it is! Great picture FTLW!!!! Love it!
Have a wonderful Monday everyone!
Good morning Dianne :-)
Good morning all!
Hope everyone had a great weekend! I am not on as much on the weekend as hubby is home…but I usually get to read and then catch up on Monday! Praying for letters and calls for y’all this week!
Hubby and I went to see “Battleship” tonight. Kicked Alien Butt! HOOYAH! Loved seeing all the “Sailors” and the USS John Paul Jones reminded me of all of the Recruits as “Camp John Paul Jones” is the main housing area for them! If you go, make sure you wait and watch the scene after the credits…the furry creatures made us laugh as we have one and have worked with the others! LOL
Good Night!
...I want to clarify that below, when I said "...how much they want to take with them during liberty on PIR Day... I meant they decide while on liberty which items they want, but if returning after liberty to RTC, they can't have anything yet (airport delivery). GL A School students can take these things back after liberty since they are on A School base already.
Thanks so much for sharing with the ladies here, cathie!
For the questions that were sent out by "Message to Group" on what personal items to bring to your sailors to take to A School....we always suggest that you bring whatever they have asked for or you think they will want. You can always return with whatever they may not have wanted to take.
Having said that, nothing is allowed back at RTC. There are two ways to deliver these items to your sailors:
1. If moving over to GL A School, they will do this right after PIR and you will pick them up a few hours later from that base (next door to RTC) for liberty. When they return to their A School base that night, they can take some personal items with them.
2. If your sailor is flying out, you will need to meet him/her at the airport with these items. They will know what time their flight is leaving, usually before PIR day but for sure by PIR day. They are bussed out to the airports in the wee hours of the morning to wait for their flights.
Now, they will have 3 pieces of luggage to be responsible for:
1. Their seabags (heavy!)
2. Their garment bags (uniforms in them)
both of these are checked luggage
3. Their backpacks
It is best that whatever they want to take fits into one of these bags, but sometimes, families bring an extra bag for them to take with them (I have seen some ladies post that they brought a bag to check; others say they brought a 2nd carryon bag). Although some take a few civilian clothes with them, they are not allowed to wear these until they "phase up" during A School so they will have to lock them up.
Bring it all up for PIR weekend and let your sailors decide how much they want to take with them during liberty on PIR Day---they will have instruction at this time on what they can/can't take. They may ask you to mail other items once they have settled into A School.
Hello Mom's my sailor just had his PIR 6-1-2011 Just wanted to let you know it is fantastic, get there early so you can get a good seat,We sat on the lower section along the back wall, so are backs would have support. Take alot of pictures, when they come in ,it is breath taking! They are aloud to have there cell phones & lap tops so bring them if you can. If there is any Question feel free to ask & good luck.
FTLW - Thank you so much!! Just trying to be extra careful and do things right...anxious to know if I have been communicating with the moms of his friends...
