That is the program where they can help by working with the recruiter while they are home on leave after A-school. They actually have to get it approved from the commander in A-school and then the recruiter signs off on how many days they worked and send that on to the commander at either C-school or their first duty station. The most they can work is 5 days and the days they work do not count against their leave. So, id they were home on leave for 10 days and worked with the recruiter for a few hours a day for 5 days then they only end up using 5 days of their leave instead of 10. I believe they are all eligible for this they just have to get the proper paperwork and approval from A-school.
This might be the same thing but I read someplace that if the sailor volunteers to help his/her recruiter during their leave after A-School, they can get their leave extended by a few days.
Laurie: What I read about this was that it is a program where the sailor is allowed to return to his hometown to assist the recruiter by sharing his/her training experiences with family, friends, classmates, future sailors, etc. When my son was in DEP, a guy did this...very impressive to the DEPPERS to be able to talk to him and ask questions. I'm assuming this is what he is talking about?
Hi everyone, I recieved numerous letters in one envelope and a call from my son last night at 6:10p. We spoke for a good 30+ minutes. Sounded extremely tired but seems to be hanging in there okay for the most part. Ankles are swollen which he beleves may be from the running. I told him to try to put them up at night when he is sleeping. He said everyone is sick from a headcold since Wk1. They are all getting along great in the division. I am so glad he isn't in this alone. :-) He mentioned something about 'RAP' (Recruiter Assistance Program) duty - I guess it's for those who have may have to wrap things up at home before heading to A School - has anyone heard of this? Approval needed from the Commander at bootcamp to qualify. Probably won't do it but just curious if anyone else mentioned this. Thanks.
SarahsMom - I totally understand about that sleep!!!
Up late then up early.... I don't think that is the way it is supposed to be lol. Subbing at the high school today. I hope everyone has a fabulous Friday :-)
kim, my son said that they didn't take out his wisdom teeth since there wasn't any immediate threat.
ctav- my daughter said please keep the letters coming. She said it really helps!
ctav- hang in there, write her lots of letters and let her know that it is like this for most of the recruits. She just needs to take it one day at a time. Each day will get a little better and in a couple weeks it will seem much better than it does today. I know when you talk to her and she is having a hard time that makes it very hard for you. But keep writing encouraging letters and send pics from home and jokes and news from friend, heck even gossip from her friends and it will get better soon :-)
KaywaaB: Not all in the divisions may get to call...they could run out of time, or be in medical, have watch, etc. Phones ready at all times!
No, not all will have wisdom teeth pulled, but many do. They will pull any they feel could cause later problems when deployed.
