Momwith2in-We are coming to PIR, and coming from Louisiana. Glad to hear from someone with sons in same division. And WOW....you have 2 of them at the same time? Our other son leaves for Air Force Basic on the 14th of May.

Just to avoid confusion, my son is a sailor stationed on an aircraft carrier and he is not an SR.

Just thought you all might enjoy this "Where's Waldo" picture.  This was an Admiral's call on my son's ship today.  My son told me that he is in this picture and I shouldn't have any trouble picking him out, since he is wearing digital blues.  Gotta love my boy.   Lol

Thanks diannep!! I really am surprised he's writing at all but oh so grateful!! We have a family chain going now so that he will start receiving notes and cards every day that is possible! ;) it is so helpful to have this website, my husband and I don't feel so alone anymore!!

Nicks mom - my daughters in the same division . I'm holding out for a letter tomorrow !
Comment by Nick'sMom on April 30, 2012 at 9:51pm

PS: The countdown will be short by 1 day (per us civilians) because D-day (6/8) is ZERO day!!! Woot Woot!

Comment by Nick'sMom on April 30, 2012 at 9:49pm

No mail today either for me from Ship002Div930. :(  I am hoping it is because they are keeping this group of kids EXTRA busy! Tomorrow is his 3rd Tuesday, so maybe a telephone call????

Welcome, Tzutaurian and Val!

Val, they get mail M-F.  It is held for the first two weeks of bootcamp until they have their Recruit Mail Petty Officer trained, but then they start receiving it daily other than weekends.  In the beginning, they can usually only write on Sundays, but are allowed other days to write as bootcamp goes along.  Sounds like his division is allowed to write on extra days since you got the letter today!

Ship 09 DIV 171 mom here, I finally got a letter!! ;) I can not wait till June 8th. I have written my son everyday for the last 5, does anyone know how often they let them have mail? Is it everyday or like only on weekends?
