It's gone. No worries...just trying to look out for you all!

I'm here, I'm here!  Thank you FTLW and diannep for sticking up for me.

Craig, as they said, we just bought a new house yesterday, so I have a good excuse.   lol   I was shampooing carpets all day and still have to paint the entire house before we move in the furniture.  I'm trying to keep up.

Anyway, ladies, I'm Betsy and another "veteran" (or slacker, as Craig says, lol) on here.  I'll be able to post a bit more once we move in our house, which is May 4, so if I'm absent, it won't be for very long.

Welcome to our crazy Navy life.

I agree with diannep...last names of Recruits/Sailors are not to be posted anywhere on this site and if yours is the same and you post it...then you have posted their last name as well.

Please do not post remarks that your recruits make about the staff at RTC or their fellow recruits unless it is positive. The RDC's have a hard job of trying to build a cohesive team. We want to hear how your SR's are doing...funny things they say etc...but negative remarks could draw attention to them if the post is read. I can easily match up quite a few of you with your recruits.

The best advice I can offer you on here for privacy? Change your profile pic so that it doesn; 't include your recruit (do it after BC like diannep did)...don't call your recruit by their first name and set your Profile Page settings to private and only viewable by your friends.I also don't live exactly where I have posted!

Another thing, haven't noticed it here, but a caution...sometimes a recruit will write home that their Division isn't getting it together...and they may write what their opinion is as to why. Examples...people won't stop talking...dont't listen...so it gets the Division in trouble etc. Some moms have felt led to ask others to please write their recruits to behave themselves if they think it is their recruit doing it (which I think is unfair personally...how would you know and they don't need us slamming them in BC for something we have no control over).

! I don't advise this at all...it can come around and bite that recruit and possibly the "mom" who posts it right in the behind! I say it becasue I ahve seen it happen and felt horrible for the injured parties.

One...this is common...and for some recruits may continue until the end of BC..but you will be amazed at how much change will occur after the fourth week for the better!. Two, it is a personal vent between you and your recruit and should stay that way.Three, it's not really our problem anymore...they have signed a contract as an adult and it is the RDC's job to instill order along with the Recruit Petty Officers...as  well as a chance for your SR's to blossom and grow.

So, just a caution for you all...not a slam. Want the best for you and your SR's.

Hey, Craig.  Betsy and hubby actually just bought a house so I know she drops in when she can but is really busy!  Glad to see you dropping in on the group!

Comment by diannep on April 28, 2012 at 2:59pm

Ladies:  Remember.....be careful what you post here.  No last names (and we suggest no SR's first names either, although they are allowed).  Also, we love our RDCs and the hard work they put into each and every one of your SRs!  So please be careful what you post here.  Your posts are being read...and just remember...no SR wants any more attention focused on him/her than already is!  :-)

s_amburgey:  Yes, next Wed would then be 2-5 for his division.  Be ready but don't be surprised if it doesn't come....sometimes scheduled phone calls can be lost for various reasons....be ready just in case!

Gc0972 - I am sooooo sorry for both of you!!!  Was this a total surprise? I hope nothing is very serious....Thinking of you and your daughter and sending good wishes for all of you.

Thanks Craig!

Betsy is busy...but has actually been posting...it's me that has been slacking (Slacker!)...I don't think she has the link for this group...I'll send it to her.

s_amburgey, so glad you heard from him. I have not received a personal letter from my daughter yet.  It will be interesting to see how the tone of their letters changes as they move through the different phases of BC.

Have you made Hotel reservations yet? We are staying at SpringHill Suites.
