Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

I am not sure but I believe my Sailor told me they are not allowed to carry a purse while in uniform unless it is black. I sent a text to my Sailor. When she responds I will let you know what she says :-)

Comment by diannep on April 23, 2012 at 5:25pm: ctav: I think the $20-$25 addition you mentioned may be the PIR DVD. It is $29 and well worth the purchase. It is not included in the pkgs so needs to be ordered separately. Pkg A is the one that includes The Keel (yearbook) for free if your SR orders it. If you order it, won't be free. My son ordered and paid for his photos and gave them to me after PIR. The DVD is mailed within 2-3 weeks. If she can order/pay for them herself, then you won't have to wait in the long line in the NEX afterwards to pick them up!

Comment by diannep on April 23, 2012 at 5:22pm: ctav: Yes, she should be able to take those. They usually allow two carryons. If she is taking a purse too, she may be able to put the laptop into her Navy backpack so she just has the purse/backpack as carryons.

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on April 23, 2012 at 2:48pm: I'll bump the Photo discussion up...there is a lot if info...just haven't tackled it yet to condense it. Most pay for it in their own...some families pay for it as a gift to their Recruit.

I can't find the post but, if I remember correctly, there's a $140 package that includes pretty much everything and a $20-25 addition that some people recommended (but I can't remember what it contains). Plus, this is something that the SR orders and pays for, right? Thanks.
