For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by msu4ensics on September 2, 2011 at 9:12pm: I got my first real letter today! He seems to be doing very well. Even said "It's so easy". I have been preparing him for this most of his life so it's nice to know that all of his and my hard work has paid off. He also said they got their peanut butter shot (whatever that is). He said his butt hurt for days, haha. It was really great to get his letter. So much so that I put off getting ready for my trip this weekend until I read it.

I'm waiting for my first letter--I miss my SR very much. We've booked our hotel, but not our plane tickets. Again thank you.

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on September 2, 2011 at 5:36pm: Yes, send a phone card. At&T is one of the better ones. I got one at Target with 600 minutes on it. Make sure it is activated first. You want a lot of minutes as the first use eats up about 30 minutes of it.

You don't HAVE to send stamps, but every little bit helps! See LaLa's post back a few.

Comment by Michelervc on September 2, 2011 at 5:20pm: I just found out that if you have optimum as your phone line they block any collect calls(Crazy) has anyone else had this problem? I wrote to my SR and told him to call my cell phone from now on but does anyone know if I am able to send him a phone card. Also are we supposed to send them stamps? Ive been out of the loop for a few days. Crazy busy days but at least it keeps my mind busy and makes the time go faster
