I appreciate your welcome. I do apologize for it taking so long to get back to you! I have been busy and haven't had the time to check the site out yet!
  • chew92

Wow! Thanks so much for the info. My son and I are not together. I am in Oakland and "He who is impatient to go" is on Maui. Your comment has lifted me up as son is too frustrated at this time to share. John, my son, is a computer guy. He even supported himself as a graphic designer. I will join the site you referenced and get my own information. Thanks so much.
  • pidg72 (Ship 12/Div 262)

Thanks! He graduates on Friday. I think he is going to be an ET. The recruiter told him FC, but I think they changed it during boot camp. I'll find out this weekend. Either way, I'm proud of him. I'll be there for graduation too! Thanks for the welcome and I look forward to meeting everyone!
  • Jaime (Brian's Mom)

He is in FC school. He is really enjoying his time so far.

Thank all of you for your support.  These young people are so brave
and I am very proud of all of them.  Can you please let  me know how to order a banner or other items that can be shared with
to order a banner or other Navy items?
  • Ruth, Gun's Mom

Thanks for the message. I don't think my son realizes yet just how far a MTS will take him. Now he's studying for the advancement test. Hope he makes it!
  • Sandy's_sailor son

Hello Mary! Thank for the invite. I feel right at home already. I know pidq72's mom from PIR 8/6/2010.
  • Jaime (Brian's Mom)

Brian is still in A school at Great Lakes. He is really enjoying it and really appreciates the low humidity of the Chicago area compared to Georgia.

Thank you so much for your welcome, she will be ET and we would love for her to be stationed in Hawaii as we have friends on the island or San Diego if possible. We are from TX. She is very happy because she rec'd her laptop and phone today and I pray that will be status quo for the duration of her schooling - she came in as an E3 so I would love to see the progress after A school. Again thanks for the invite to the group.

    Hi Mary,
Thanks for welcoming me to this group. How cool that your son is in Italy! Any chance that you can visit him there one day?

Our son will be finishing up A school in Great Lakes this week and is awaiting his orders for C school and beyond. He seems excited. I am a little anxious and nervous as to where he will land. Is your son an ET? How long was his C school and where was his schooling? How long has he been enlisted? Sorry if I an asking too many questions.

Hope you are having a good night and that your week goes well.

    Hi Mary,

Thanks for responding to my many questions. I will keep you posted and share Luke's orders when I hear. You reconfirmed what I heard from Luke in that his next few years will soon be mapped out. I must trust the Good Lord that He is in control of this situation and trust that Luke will grow and benefit from this experience regardless of where he serves. Needless to say, I am very proud of Luke, Nick and all of the men and women who serve. I commend them all.

I cannot log on the N4M from work. (I'm a teacher and the site has been blocked.) I'm not glued to my computer from home but this site will be one that I will check on a regular basis.

Again, thanks for your help and for answering my questions. Best wishes to Nick (you too) and blessings as well.

    Mimi

  • abc815

hi there! thank you for your reply! :) my sailor is an e-4 over 4 (not sure what that means). we will be getting married here in illinois on his holiday leave and then i want to head back to japan with him. i guess he plans on having me get my military id from the naval base near my house (great lakes naval base). as for getting command sponsored, i guess that will have to wait until after we are actually married, right? so am i allowed to enter japan with my passport and stay there "on my own" until i get command sponsored? i know i won't have any benefits or anything like that, which is ok with me. help! :) thanks so much!
  • Missy [FCwife]

Mary, Thanks so much for all the information. It helps with all the worrying and confusion!
  • Kelly (Pink) Curtis' Mom

Hi Mary! Thanks so much for welcoming me to this group. I am looking forward to the journey my son will take once boot camp is done. So glad to hear your son is doing well! I think my son would like to be stationed in Hawaii too! All the best to you and thanks again!
  • ETnavywife

Thank you for the friendly welcome! My husband is in ET "A" School right now and he said he's over half way done :) I am so proud of my Sailor! I moved to GL in July but I have yet to meet any other wives. I work full time and we are expecting our first child together so I'm not left with much free time. Thank you for the info on the Navy Wives club, I'll look into it. Does your son love Hawaii? We would love to get staioned there :)
  • Kelly80

I am now ENGAGED to my sailor!!!!
  • Aliott1200 (Ship 10, Div 256)

OK, give me a second. After I read Hawaii I didn't see anything else. I would LOVE for my son to be stationed in Hawaii? I would visit a lot. LOL OK, I am back. I would love to see my son move. It's so incredibly hard to find a good flight to IL. Thanks for the info and I look forward to talking to you more in the future. Congrats to your sailor and your family. Looking forward to the wonderful opportunity he has to learn and travel.
  • Kelly80

Thanks!!!! Now, if I could go a day without crying, it'd be greater!!!! I sure do miss him!!! How do you deal?!?!?!
  • Jasons Wife

Lol I am cracking up laughing @ Wasteland!!!! I haven't heard anyone call it that, but I'm sure they still do!! My husband actually left for bootcamp last week on September 22nd so I am just now really getting use to him not being around. The kids, age 5 & 2 ask about him EVERY NIGHT. I Really don't know when I will be moving up to live with him. Our lease is up in FEB so depending on how many bills I have paid off by then will determine if I want to go. I'm still waiting around for the package he said I would be getting in the mail. I also have stacks of mail to send him with no address ! Lol
  • savannahgal-nukemom1110MT

mary, he left 9/21 from Athens, and PIR will be (God willing!) 11/12.Only thing we've heard so far is the little blurb at bottom of form letter that they took his contacts the first night and has been w/o glasses for 2 days! Sure hope he's got a good attitude about it! He signed up for Nuke, which is great b/c I think much of the training will be in Charleston, only a couple of hours away. So cool yours is in Hawaii!!!! Have you gone?
  • momcwilli

Thanks for the welcome. My son Ruairidh (pronounced Rory) is in A school for ET. He is on the USS Cole. His PIR was April 29th. At this point he's hoping for mobilecom. (I think that's what it's called). We've heard he may graduate before Christmas. We attended his PIR and my daughter and I went to visit him last month. Looking forward to having him home for Christmas.
    All the best, Maureen
  • calliecl

My son just graduated boot camp 10/8. He is moving today to his A School at Great Lakes and going to be an ET. thanks for the welcome

    He's an FC.
  • litlepig11

Hi, My hubby is going to be on hold too. I wish I was moving to GL w/him but I am going to stay in Ohio and finish out the school year...we will see were he is then. He may have his first orders by then right? I work at an elementary school and has of now dont see a point in moving, he will hopefully work better w/out me to distract him. ;)
  • litlepig11

LOL I work at an elementary school...I'm finishing the school year out for them...not me. We are working on getting debt paid down so we can buy a baby :) Wow I didn't think A school would takes so long...w/him being on hold I thought, maybe March at the latest. I thought...bc he told me...his C school would also be at GL. I guess like you said we will find out when he finish A school. Yeah I love being close its about an 8hour drive to Chicago, or I can usually fly for 120 round trip. Its nice just know our weather is simualr, idk why i like to think of him waking up as freezing cold as I am, and he said the same thing :D
  • Karen K's mom

Mary, Thanks , yes I do wonder all of this. I know she is fine. How long is it until you find out where you can write? I work quite a bit so that helps me stay busy and not think to much. I'm sure the winters are going to be tough up there. I'm so proud of her but we have some sick family. I have found the numbers for the Red Cross in case of an emergency. I want her to focus and I can't wait to see her already. Karen
  • Daphne

Thanks Mary, Our son Michael graduated in May and is now in Yokosuka, Japan. We are so very proud of him. It's amazing since we actually live in an Army town that he chose the Navy. I think it was the best thing he could do.
  • hannahp

Mary, wow, I'm surprised to hear from another person from Rome who has a loved one in the Navy:) My fiancee has 4 weeks left in boot camp, then he's going to A-school for defense language in CA. Thanks for writting me, Hannah
  • Hales.sb.nw

My husband has been in just over 2 years. Thanks for the information on the group.
  • Hales.sb.nw

He is attached to his ship. He finished up prototype in July.
  • hannahp

Does anyone on here know what being a military wife is like? As I mentioned before my fiancee is going to Navy CTI school (defense language) and I'm in nursing school. I'm trying to decide wheter to join the Navy as a Nurse Officer or just stay a civilian while my man's serving his time... Sigh
  • Lisa GL Corpsman A school

Thank you very much. My stepson has been living in Florida with his grandparents but I would love to talk to local parents.
  • Lisa GL Corpsman A school

No I have not. I will search for her. Thank you!
  • LaurelAnne

Thanks! My husband just left for bootcamp this week, and he is AECF.
  • NavyWife620

Hi Mary! My hubby is in school right now at Correy Station in FL. He is really liking it. Coming from the Nuke rate, he is very much used to the fast paced teaching they do. And yes, the nukes are a hard thing to get out of. lol. we have been trying for quite some time. After our 2nd daughter was born , he really wanted to get off the submarine. So after 2 years of trying, we finally cross rated. And the hubby is an E-6, so it was even harder. What is your son doing now? The CTN community seems to be very much like the Nukes. Just not as small. Any questions feel free to ask!!
  • Karen K's mom

Ya, yesterday was hard she called and I was working and missed her call. She was able to talk to my husband (step dad) and her brother. They said she seemed upbeat. I was impressed with the form letter that I received how good her printing is. I lost it last night. I was holding up pretty good until then. Can they get a tape of the graduation? She wants me to stay home and get a flight for her to come home for leave and not go to graduation. It really killed me. I know she wants to come home for the holidays to see everyone but I want to see her grad too. I was surprised. How often do they get to call? What does a performance division mean. From what I am hearing div 905 is a performance division. What does the AE CF do?
  • sandi (shp07/div357/PIR11/5)

Thank you for the note, I was looking at your pic to see if you were the family we met this weekend at PIR, which that family had spent some time in Hawaii also. I told my son to put that on his wish list so I can come and visit. LOL!!! But that family had 3 gen's at the PIR and a Master Chief, which was very nice for my son to meet. Great weekend and my son will be at school for I guess 18 mths or so. Gotta to get back to work, thanks again
  • Jenna

Thank you for your note. I can't wait for his PIR not much longer now :) We getting married soon and then its the schooling. I just can't wait for him to see his son again I know he misses him so.
  • l3uttel2flie

Thank you! We moved here 10/18 and are finally all settled in. My husband just got his live ashore approved and should be comping ATT this week. Hopefully he is not on hold until after Christmas standown... there have been rumors of that happening.... at least we are here and together now :)
  • Julie- (CVN 69 IKE)

Thank you so much for the note, I dont get much time to comment or respond. My phone will let me read post but not reply, (go figure) I was a Navy wife that did BC with my husband a long time ago. I thought having been there done that I would be prepared but for some reason being a mom of a recruit is proving to be much more difficult for me than a wife, but of course back then I thought that was just terrible. But this site and all the wonderful people associated with it does help ALOT. Thanks so much. = )
  • HockeyMom

Hi Mary, thank you for your reply, yes I noticed that later, SECF is what I would want to join, My son Steven leaves, Dec 6th, he is planning on subs. I am slowly learning the lingo, slow but steady.
