    Hello,

Thank you for your information. My son has graduated from bootcamp in thr Great Lakes. His is now in Goose Creek,SC in the A school program and hopes to end up a Sub. All I know is that he is supposed to be in the barricks at the Quarter deck. Thats all I know. He has no phone and I haven't heard from him since he 1st got there. I have tryed leave messages at the barricks for him but I never do. From some of the information I have read on your site I also need to have his number an I know nothing about that. Now you know all I know. I don't think I will be an asset to the site since that all I know.Thank you Mary

Thx so much for your generous assistance & warm welcome Ronny. It is greatly appreciated! My son just arrived in Great Lakes, IL late night of Tuesday, 6/11/13. He was part of the Chicago White Sox 2013 Navy Special Recruit Division. YAY! lol He was able to stay for 7 innings of the Blue Jays vs Sox game which was very cool since we got to hang out as well. Thx again! #ProudNavyMommie

Hi Ronny thank you for the nice message.  My son recommended I join in March.  I joined and then have been so busy with his senior year of baseball and graduation was not able to get back on here!  Now I am back.  He just headed to Great Lakes this past Thursday the 13th and will be there til at least the 9th of August!  He will then fly to Pensacola, FL for A school training.  He is going to be an aircraftsman.  Still much for me to learn,  Thank you for messaging me and excited to hear from you again.  Becky

Hi Ronny, you had mentioned phone cards.  What if my son doesn't have one?  He has been calling home, but was wondering if he is being charged and having to pay out of his paychecks, or how that works?  Thanks, Becky

  • lynnie25

Hey Ronny!  Havent talked with you in awhile.  My son graduated from PIR in April.  It was great!  He is a corpsman and 'A' school graduation is just around the corner and i had a few questions i was hoping you could help me with.  Are they limited to how many family members may attend like PIR was?  Is it formal?  I would like to start planning but dont really know where to start.  Thanks and hope you are doing well. Missy

  • MisMav

Thank you!  That does help, alot.  I appreciate you checking in on that for me.  Have a great day!

Thank you for the info, Recruit Man - Ronny.  My son left for book camp in April 2012.  So he's been in for over a year now.  He's an RP stationed at Camp Pendleton.  My uncle, my brother & my son's father were all Navy men.  It's been helpful for him to have someone to talk to and it brought him closer to his dad so it's all good.  I wish I had seen this way back then but now is better than never.  :-)   Thanks, Lieu2010 - Sarah

  • ssurman

Hi Ronny and thanks for the comment. I am new to the Navy as well as this online forum. My 19 yr old son Nathaniel is newly stationed in Bremerton, WA aboard the USS Kentucky Gold Star crew. He is a submariner machinist mate. He just got to his new base in May and now deployed to Guam he said for qualification exercises. I am not sure how I am to write, text or call him aboard a sub. any advice would be appreciated. thanks, Melissa

Hello Ronny and thank you for your post I am so new to this site. My daughter graduates boot camp Aug 30th, and so far she is doing great in boot camp. She received a ribbon for sharpshooter and it was her very first time handling a gun. she is also Squad leader or section leader I am not quite sure. But she marches in front on the side. She received her orders for Washington State after A school so I am not sure if she will get to come home or not? I am hoping she will get liberty to come home before they ship her off. My middle son was in the marines and he was able to come home for a few weeks after boot camp and for a month after his deployment to Afghanistan and a few weeks before he left for there. I am learning that the navy is quite a bit different then the Marines and I am thankful that my daughter chose the Navy over the other branches. I hope to be a regular on here learning all I can my daughter is my youngest and my only daughter so I am very over protective lol

  • Myla457

Thank you so very much and sorry it is taking me so long to respond I have a busy busy daily routine haha. I will definitely check this out and I do appreciate this.

  • Lorinda

Thank you for the warm welcome. My son was at PointbLoma in San Diego Sonar Tech. He's on the USS Mahan now.

Hi Ronny...My son-in-law is on the USS Harry Truman, he is naval intelligence. I believe he is in his third year and is hoping to go into the Pentagon when he is finished with his enlistment. I am wondering how to send care packages to him. I have never done anything like that before and have no idea how to go about doing it. I know there are rules on what you can and cannot send. My daughter is pregnant with their first child and is due October 29, a boy!! She's been pretty emotional since he deployed in July and is to be gone 9 months. I just thought it might be easier on her for me to do something like this and try to keep tab on the ship and ask questions so I don't upset her even more, especially with the situation in the Middle East being what it is. I'm hoping she calms down at least a little after the baby is born. This is their first and they were just married October last year. Ok, enough about me, I hope everything is going well for you and your family, your son in particular. Enjoy your Labor Day Weekend!! Take care...Kimmi

  • KimmyD

Hi Ronny- my son graduated from USNA and is on the USS PRINCETON- we are on pins & needles-not known anything. But we respect and understand why we are there. Can we really send care packages? I will look up that web site you mention.
  • lilirishladymomma

Thank you for your message Ronnie,

I joined this site when my older son entered the Navy, but wasn't sure if I should write anything because he is a CTR. My second  son is now at boot camp, and his rate is the same as your son. It has been a little easier second time around. It is his dream to work on helicopters. But as long as it's mechanical, he is a happy guy.

  • Lorraine66

Thank you for the welcome Ronnie. I am still trying to figure out the site as I am not a very techy person and have never been on a forum before. (This is a forum right ? Lol ) I did join the NROTC group so I guess I will be spending all my time there. I have many questions but don't know where to start. Thank you for the information you've shared and again for the welcome. Enjoy the rest of your Labor Day weekend. :)

Thanks Ronny.  I appreciate your welcome.  My daughter came out of boot camp in early June.  She is A-PACT undesignated so she went to Pensacola for about six weeks.  She had a short leave before she was flown to Bahrain and met up with the aircraft carrier Nimitz.  She has been on the ship a little over a month now.  She is my only child so this is a new experience for me.  I am apprehensive with what is going on with Syria.  I've had email communication on and off but not as much info as I would like.  Please give me suggestions to where I might get more up to date information.  I appreciate your help.  Susan

  • Mineman Mom (ship 13 DIV 069)

Thank you for the welcome and I hope to use alot of this useful information that this great website offers.

  • Marie17

I haven't learned how to navigate the site yet. I adopted my son when he was 11 years old and we were together until circumstances changed and we lost contact for a few years. Next thing I know he's in the Navy. We've been in touch now for a while. He signed up for 6 years and has about a year to go. My dad was a chief petty officer and was discharged with a medical discharge in 1947. I also had a uncle that was in the Navy. So proud of our young men and women for their service.
  • AnnaMills13

Thank you. About 3 wks ago we found out my daughter will be leaving July 7th for Great Lakes. This is my first born. My emotions have been out of wack ever since. Thought this wouldn't get to me as bad as it has. But I'm a very proud momma none the less!

  • shannaburns

Thanks so much for the welcome!  Just curious where to go exactly to post a question about Liberty weekend.

  • Maggie

    Thank you Ronny!

Thank you for the Welcome and I have finally found my way back here.  I am having difficulty navigating the sites so please bear with me as I am doing my best.  My son left August 19th for BC  PIR is 10/18.  Thus far I have made flight reservations as well as hotel reservations.  I have wrote daily or have sent cards (or both)  I did receive a call yesterday and he mentioned it would probably be his last for approx 2 weeks.  He sounds great and making adjustments to Navy Life.  There Division has improved and even got a Flag yesterday. I don't know much about that so I will need to find where to look for info on that.  I am forever proud and can't wait til PIR.  Suggestions or tips is always appreciated.

  • aidansmom

Thank you so much for the info!!

  • Diana

I am a bit tardy but thank you for the welcoming message.  I will most likely have some questions as we get closer to PIR.

  • cmcd

Thanks for the welcome!  I've actually purchased a blanket from you!

  • TaylorsMom

Hi, this is hard I miss my boy he is due to graduate this month, we only spoke once. i am so very proud of him but I do worry. What will happen after graduation. will we have more contact during "A" school?

  • michelle shaw

Hey, I'm a mother of two, my son is Air Force station in the states & my daughter is station in Sassebo, Japan with the Navy. Yes, they will get to call more in A school. Don't be a cry baby wait until after the calls. Be strong for them, they need encouragement when they call u. They are learning to be on their own & they have a lot of pressure on them to finish their mission or task. U will be so proud of them when them when they graduate. My girl could not come in for Christmas due to a mission in the Philippines. She has not been home in two years & was very disappointed. I told her to be strong & b thankful that she has a loving family waiting on her when she does come home & to realize that those poor families there need your help. She is an angel to them & my baby angel to me. Merry Christmas to you, I no it's hard, just try to stay positive. God bless
