4- Housing- A few days after he arrives @ his assigned base; they will give him a housing brief. At that time he will need to know if you are going to live in housing or in a house or apt off base. They will also need to know what kind of move you're doing. That day he will be choosing a base house., etc. He will be calling you this day. If using a moving company, the moving company contacts you.

My husband's boot camp was in Great Lakes. He left on Nov2nd & graduated on Jan 6th! Yes. We missed Thanksgiving, Christmas, & New Years! There was no phone call on Thanksgiving either!
Prepare yourself by following this advice:
1- If you're planning on getting married; do it before boot camp. The Navu doesn't recognize common-law, fiances, or girlfriends as spouses! You can only live in housing if your are married!
2- When the leave for boot camp, phone calls…

Im so sad...I open the box today an there is no information package..When do I get that?????
I have a new appreciation for the lost art of letter writing. I heard from Matt today! Yeah! He answered the BC survey that I sent and then wrote 2 pages with lots of details.
My son grew up in the age of e-communications and so much of ours was via cell phone, text, email and Facebook. I have really missed not being able to communicate with him in any fashion but then today I got his first handwritten letter…

Newbee Mom here...with questions, looking for the veteran Mom with answers:
I received my form letter about graduation. In the letter it allows for 4 family memebers to attend. We have 5 - 6 if we include the grandbaby. What are the chances to walk in on that day and have family member #5 join us without a problem? We are a close family and all want to attend.
I'm sure I will think of more questions later :)

So Jeb's graduation was amazing! He graduated from Great Lakes on March 9th and was in Division 083...The Hall of Fame Division! It was everything I thought it was going to be. I cried the minute the hangar doors were raised and saw the first set of feet coming through, not even knowing which division was his division at the time. And then I saw him and I have never been prouder in my life! The short time we got with him before he headed off to Pensacola was very precious to me. I…

Hello.
I am Julie. My son is in week 2 of boot camp @ Great Lakes. Would really love it if I could meet at least one mom from this division.
Either way, I wish you all luck on your own journey, alongside your son and/or daughter.
Aloha

Is it normal for a mom to have THIS much anticipatory grief??? I am crying every time I read the boards or my husband and I talk about her leaving. I am staying strong in front of her but did have to excuse myself this weekend when her and Dad started talking about something.
My sweet daughter is 21 and doesn't even live at home anymore! I talk her her daily on the phone and she comes over several times a week. Our son gradutes high school 4…

I am in a little better mood got to hear my sons voice on the phone tonight. He said he is doing as well as to expected since it is boot camp. He said see you at graduation, so I think we are going to try and make it happen. He also said he sent a letter with his graduation date. Now I am more hopefully and alittle more at ease....Still miss him but that is to be expected.
