The Journey

When our daughter joined the Navy in November, July seemed so long off. There was so many things to do. At that time there was Christmas to look forward to and then senior prom and then Graduation. I thought once Christmas was over time would fly.... well she just left for her senior prom and she has 13 days left of school. Time seems to be flying. Dont get me wrong... I am so proud of her and support her decision. She has a great recruiter and the support she has received through the DEP…

Received Son's Standard Letter

After we got home from our friends daughter's baptism and then had lunch at a wonderful resturant in downtown Houston, we can home and checked our mail to see we have received the standard letter from our son containing his address and information about graduation, he graduates 12 days after my birthday. What a wonderful birthday present this year. I was so excited thinking it was an actual letter from him. But it is okay because I now have his address and will send my first letter out on…

Words with my man

Im so happy at the fact that i get to talk to my boyfriend quite often while he's on deployment. It helps me get through my days because i know that he's safe. I get all my email to my phone so i can chat with him while im out and dont have to sit by a computer all day. For past week we've got to email almost everyday and when he calls i am very excited to hear his voice. Somedays i just think about how in the old days women had to be much stronger then the women of today because all they…

Received a letter :)

We received a personal letter from our son today....still no form letter. His address said Ship 09 DIV 171, I wrote him back immediately but I don't want to worry him about asking someone for this. Can I call his recruiter to find a copy of the letter? I am only concerned if I need it for PIR. We are going to be traveling quite far so I want to have all the info I need.....

Navy Housing in VA

Was wondering what the wait is for Weelings court or Port Lyautey. I've been told one year and longer, not sure if they just tell you that on account of the demand to live there. I have looked into the schools there and have heard good things and bad about Cox high and was wondering if anyone has there child there. Worried about the things that I have read and would love some info. My family will be moving this summer it would be nice to hear from someone that knows and get real info and put…

A HUGE SURPRISE

So I come home from work get in the shower and my husband calls me and tells me he's on his way. He comes in and says he hit something on the freeway and messed up the side of his truck and wants me to go see it. And I'm thinking oh gosh why is this happening? I get to the truck and I'm walking around to the side, and my Sailor (my daughter) jumps out.... Omg I just balled my eyes out. I thought my daughter was still on hold at A school in Pensacola but no she graduated and was surprising her… Continue

Received Son's items today

After a really bad day at work I came home to find my son's box has arrived. I received a phone call on my cell phone with and IL area code and I got very excited then worried that something was wrong and the call turned out to be a recording from Shaquille O'Neal for the March of Dimes. I guess no news is good news. Looking forward to next week; hopefully I will receive a letter from my son. Hope tomorrow morning traffic is better than this morning and I hope the attorney who pissed me…

The Box

I received my "Box" today. I kind of thought today would be the day I just pointed to it and asked my youngest to take it to Jordan's room. Then I couldn't swallow, catch my breath and started to cry. This last for about 3 or 4 minutes then it came to me. Thank God my Box was cardboard and not wood! At that moment I saw this as my son's future and not the end to his childhood. My heart goes out to all the loved ones of our military men and women who have had to receive the wooden box. May…
