I'm doing much better than I thought I would. My daughter has been gone for 4 weeks now. I wasn't sure how me or my husband was going to make it, but we did. I got the 1st call saying that she made. Even though it wasn't that long, I was happy to hear her voice. We got out first letter two weeks ago. I was able to talk with her on Thursday and we got a letter from her the same day. I just want to let all the other moms know that it's not as bad as you think it will be. If I can…

My son is in ship 3, div. 240. He will graduate on 8/3/12. I want to make ribbons for everyone in my party. The question is: Do I use a fouled(chain or rope around anchor), or unfouled anchor to represent his rank at PIR?

For Garrett:
Saying goodbye, leaving home
My how you have grown.
He never saw my tears as I held him tight, said Im proud of you, goodnight.
Those innocent eyes met mine as he entered the room, my heart was saying the time came too soon.
As he raised his right hand to swear in, it was so hard to control the tears within.
It's now your time to shine, you make me so proud and I know you will be fine.
Although you are leaving my baby and the next time I see…

I was just talking to my son about after his graduation. He's gonna be coming home for 3 weeks and he's what you call Active Duty Navy. Well, I was wanting to go get him from Corry Station, FL. But everybody's trying to tell me that he can catch a flight on a military plane to come home. Is this true because my son tells me that he doesn't have that option. What're your thoughts or do you know if he can do that?

We received our first handwritten letters today! I came home from work to an envelope full of words from my best friend. As all of you probably know or can imagine, even the idea of a letter from someone I haven't heard from in nearly three weeks brings me to tears, so my mascara was everywhere. He told me how hard it was and how hard it is to keep strong in his christian walk with so little time and Godly influence, but he also told me how thankful he was for what the Navy was doing for…

Decesions, decesions,
my boyfriend left on the 10th of July, we've recieved his box and hopefully will recieve his form letter soon. So, here is my question. I know that they may only have four people written down on their list to go. His sister was recently married so it will be her, her husband and his parents. I read that you can go to the visitor center before hand and if there is room at their graduation, they will let you in. Do you think it will be worth it to go and…

I received my son's package on Tuesday July 17. He left for Basic on Wednesday July 11!! Now I am just waiting for the form letter or a phone call!!!!
If so, has anyone received any letters yet? I keep reading that it could be a full three weeks before they're allowed to write. Also since he's in the 800th division, I understand he'll stay there for 3 more weeks after bootcamp. If so, how does liberty work for the weekend of graduation. Could we see him more than just the day of graduation?

It was two weeks ago yesterday morning at 2:31 a.m. that I got my "I'm here call" from my son. My heart broke as I heard the scaredness, the tiredness, and the hurriedness in his voice. He and I had talked a lot over the past few weeks and we both knew what those first 48 hours were going to be like for him. Neither of us were looking forward to it.
It was one week ago this past Monday that the "kid in the box without the kid" arrived on my front porch, positioned perfectly in the…
