Orginally we were told my son's A school was 6 months. Now that he's at bootcamp he sent a letter saying its about 52 weeks. How long before will he find out his duty station orders? And how long will it take him to get to phase 2? Any other information about MA's A school would be great... I can forward the infor to him via mail, so at least he has a heads up. Not sure if its the same process as my older son went threw for his A school. Thanks in advance.

We got to talk for about 30 minutes, it felt like only 4, but it was just amazing to hear his voice. Hes being so strong and you can hear in his voice how happy he is that hes actually doing this. Well everyday since then ive sent a letter and even some silly cards just to cheer him up and put a smile on his face. Well today i got my…

My daughter informed us that her recruiter called her today and informed her that her ship date has changed from Dec. 16th to Dec 9th. Our time just got shorter with her.

Hello all,
Not sure if it's really a good idea or not?
I currently work for a company doing Quality Assurance. Yes, Quality Assurance. So you know when you call your local cable company and they say - "This call may be monitored for Quality Assurance purposes."? Well I'm actually the person that listens and monitors. So those people really exist. LOL
Anywho... My company allows me to work for home to do this. Currently I work in the building and work full time. I was…

Our son left for boot camp today. There was a farewell party at our house for family and friends and we made sure we spent lots of time together before his departure date. We got to spend some extra time in Albany NY because there was a change in his departure date that his recruiter was unaware of. I was pleasantly surprised at how welcoming and considerate the staff was at the MEPS center and we got to take photos of him being sworn in. But, that didn't make it any easier to say good…
ContinueI have decided this is where I need to vent. I have a son, that leaves in March for boot camp, and twin teenage girls. The four of us are very close. We supported each other and became very close during my divorce from their Dad. None of them are close with their Dad. I do not have a problem cutting the apron strings, because I know it is best for my son. I know the Navy can teach him what I was not able to,…

Today around 0900 I got my first call that lasted about 30 minutes. I had to be the happiest girl alive at that moment. Yes of course I cried in the beginning and he did also but im glad to say that it was a great conversation. It felt so good to hear the words 'I love you" come from him after a long 2 weeks. All the pain and tears I cried for these past 2 weeks all faded away all because of his voice. I am so proud of my Fiance. I miss him like crazy but today made me feel so good! I feel…

My son left on Tuesday for Great Lakes. I got the call. Best call ever! Now waiting for the package and a return address to start writing to him. Does anyone know how to determine when to schedule a flight for graduation? Also, how long did it take to get your package of belongings?
So proud of my guy!

Sad, but this sums up why my Sailor has no plans on taking the Oath of Enlistment next year for the 4th time. :(
"Sailors are most likely to leave uniformed service because of a perception of increasingly high operational tempo, poor work/life balance, low service-wide morale, declining pay and compensation, waning desire to hold senior leadership positions, and a widespread distrust of senior leadership, all of which erodes loyalty to the institution," the survey states.…
