My son called the recruiter last night and today the recruiter is going to drop off the papers at school. He has talked about this for so long, but today he is actually going to do it. I am so proud of him and yet I am crying as I write this. I know he won't be leaving for a while, but now it is becomes real. Before, it was just a maybe.
Going into the Navy is really the best thing for him. He has been at odds at what he would do after he got out of High School. He…

Well I keep reading advice to write and mail letters to your recruit every day. I sat and wrote a note to him daily until I received the address and then mailed the several days worth out at once. I’m finding it difficult to write something interesting every day, yet I want to keep my son entertained with letters. Today I prepared 12 pages of Christmas humor for him to read and giggle about and just hope he enjoys it!

Hi,
My son forgot to pay an important bill before he left for RTC. It is due in 2 weeks. Will he be allowed access to his Navy Federal Credit Union account to pay it or should I just pay it for him? THANKS!!

My son leave 1/18/11 for Basic. It has been difficult for me as the days get closer. I am so proud of him, but at the same time am so worried for him. I know that he has made a decision to protect and serve our country (following the foot-steps of my father), but it is so hard.
I have been reading a lot of the other posts and they have been very informative. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one that tries to fight back the tears (some times not…

My son Graduated December 17, 2010. It seems that he did not get the DVD of the Graduation. Does anyone know how we can get one, without having to travel back to IL?

this will for sure, be the hardest Christmas for me, as I am sure I am not alone in this. You always want your children close, right? I am so very proud of my son for this choice he has made, and the man he has become. He will be 21 in April, and has always in my eyes, been level headed and responsible. I do notice now that his verbage has changed, his closeness to me (which I always thought we were very close anyway), has grown, and he just seems "different". He has said in our few…
