I never thought I would say that RCU has been a blessing in disguise. Not only have we had to opportunity to support our daughter in regular Boot Camp training, we have been blessed with watching her deal with set back. She could have given up and removed herself from the Navy. But she didn't. She is hanging in there! She is attending church and doing a bible study. She is furthering her schooling while being held back - in hopes of her getting ahead at a later date. She has gotten her…

until scheduled departure. K had her "less than 60 days to go" meeting with the Chief at the Recruiting Station yesterday. All of a sudden, she is worried that somehow she will lose IS or something will happen and she won't be able to get into the Navy at all. I'd love to say she is being silly but you never know. The good side of that is, she has been deciding what she will do if that happens. Her second choice is to finish college now (yippee!). She thinks if she doesn't get IS…

I've never blogged before except for posting a blog on N4M the day that our beautiful ARMED FORCES took down OSAMA BIN LADEN......
Now, my personal story ....... a story of emotions, denial and pride. It's a day-to-day struggle getting used to having a child in the Navy. He is the first in our family to join any branch of the military and so learning everything-military has been quite challenging.
In 2006 my son was in high school he came home and said "Ma,…

Hi all :)
My fiancee and i are getting married tomorrow, and im kinda lost on what we need to do next. What kind of paper work do we have to fill out? Do i have to get my social changed? where do i get my military id, how to we go about getting BAH? This is all so new to us and neither one of us are sure where to begin. I dont want to get too stressed and have it ruin our Newly wed phase. ANY advice would help. Thank you.

We really had a very nice Thanksgiving with our Seaman at home....Had to take him to Norfollk this past weekend(hmmm) is all I can say. I was very impressed to say the least. He asked me "momma are you going to cry," he told me I had to man up since I was a Navy Mom.... I had to be bold and say no~even though I was melting on the inside. He never saw a tear. I am a Proud Navy Mom!!!

Havent gotten on recently but i dont feel the need to anymore. I have made it more than halfway and my coping abilities have become stronger. I guess I just want to do another blog to release pent up feelings that I can't discuss with family or friends because they are getting tired of me saying I miss my sailor and I am just so excited to leave for PIR. I have matured because of my experience. I am thankful for all the wonderful people i have come to know because of this site and other…

Well it is 12 days before graduation and 11 days before I fly out. I waited as long as I could to purchase the tickets to ensure that graduation would not be post-poned. So far so good.
I want to say a special thank you to a very special person at the airlines who let me use her guest passes to help cut the cost of my tickets. I am very thankful that there are people in the world who understand the importance of family being present during that ceremony. She knew I could not make it…

This the last night with my son. Wow that sounds really sad and I am. When he enlisted last April we were told he would not leave till December 21. With that info my husband and I booked a vacation for the early December. Well the worst thing happened in mid November...they changed his leave date to December 7th...smack dab in the middle of when we will be gone. I am not mad as I know the dates can change. I looked into changing our vacation date but with trying to change multiple things it…

I am extremely proud of my son. I received a call from him today telling me he is officially a Sailor. He is so excited.. When I asked him if he was happy he enlisted ? He said "Oh Yeah" I can't wait to see him at graduation.
A few days after my daughter arrived at Boot Camp - we received the PIR date. That DATE was the day that life would be good again. I would be able to cheer, hug, kiss, and squeeze my daughter. All of her work was going to come to an end on that DATE. My phone even had a countdown for that DATE. Well... that date is in 3 days and my daughter will not be there. She injured her heel and was sent to RCU. When she heals, she will complete her final run, do Battlestations, and go right…

I unexpectedly got my first phone call from my SR yesterday!!! I was so happy when I saw "Great Lakes" on the caller ID that I started literally jumping up and down and shrieking to my roommate that it was Eric! It was so incredible to listen to Eric's voice (even though he has a cold and it didn't really sound like him), and I was so happy to finally be talking to my baby. I thought that he would have at least a half hour to talk, but he only got 13:31...we talked about everything that…
