Meps

Ok, today she is on her way to Meps. Was wondering #1 what is the acronym mean? #2 What happens if she does not score high on her ASVAB? She took the practice tests and didn't score very well in Math, electricity and general science. Will they still let her in? What does she need to have to get in and on her way to BC? She wants to be in Media and Journalism, and I know there is a minimum score for this. She is excellent in English and writing and also has a great vocab. However, when she…

The memories keep coming

The memories keep coming, My son is in bootcamp and I think I have relived his entire life so far. I have come to the conclusion that I did the best I could. I have a fine young man and we have a close relationship. He knows he is loved and I know he loves his momma.

When he was in 3rd grade, he loved blonde jokes, I explained a blonde could be male or female and he said he understood that. (doing the best I can) so I would get on the internet for him and…

The Journey has Started

We dropped my brother off in Minneapolis, MN at MEPS on 07-08-10. That was the single most difficult day of my entire life. (at least one of them anyways) I watched him do his final swear in, as tears rolled down my face. Saying good-bye and walking away was hard. I did feel selfish just standing there crying and hugging him. I thought to myself, "stop crying, this is good for him.. he's doing a good thing for himself and for this country.." But I'm only human, a human that…

Please help!! I would like some thoughts on my situation.

I am a wife and mother of two beautiful little boys 2 and 3. I have currently finished school for medical billing and coding and realized that the school made it seem like there were tons of jobs in this field, and they are but of course you need years of experience. And, I have been thinking abou the military for awhile but I never had the gusts to join. Well, I have been making a mental pro and con list of joining and feel as though it will be the best thing to do for me in my current job… Continue

Thank you!!

Thank you to everyone who responded to my boot camp question. I also watched the videos too, so now I know what they do at least. I think my daughter will do fine with PT. She's in good shape and plans to train. She is in the DEP. supposed to go in May or June to BC. Now, I have another question: Is there more than one sight for bootcamp?? I've been seeing Chicago as one, but is there others?? Thank you ev everyone!

3 STAR MOTHER

CONTACT THE AMERICAN LEGION AND REQUEST A BBBLUE STAR BANNER ( 15" X 8 ") FOR EACH CHILD WHO IS IN ACTIVE MILITARY, THEN HANG IT IN YOUR FRONT WINDOW. THE BLUE STAR BANNER STARTED IN WWII; IF THE FLAG HAD A GOLD STAR IT MET THEIR SON/ DAUGHTER HAD BEEN KILLED IN ACTION. HANG YOUR BLUE STAR BANNER WITH PRIDE, AND LET EVERYONE KNOW YOU ARE PROUD OF YOUR CHILD/CHILDREN. AND WHEN YOU SEE A BLUE STAR BANNER YOU WILL KNOW WHAT IT MEANS TO THAT MOTHER. GOD BLESS OUR SAILORS AND TROOPS !!

Any future Cardinal Company Moms, Wives, or Others Out there

For two months I have been checking the boot camp mom's site eagerly awaiting for other family members of sailor recruits headed to Great Lakesat the end of August or early September to check in. No one else seems to have a child or loved one going in with the Cardinal group. I just can't fathom no one else is out there yet. So here I am calling all those families of Cardinal Company recruits going to St. Louis at the end of August and being sworn in in early September at the Cardinal's game.… Continue

So Very Proud of My 2 Sons

1st son is about to graduate A-school in 6 weeks in Pensacola. 2nd son is a senior in high school this year and has just returned from St Louis to take his ASVAB. He scored high enough to be offered a job of OS. He'll be leaving me a year from today. So many mixed emotions! So very proud but at the same time my "baby" is leaving me to follow his older brother on a Navy journey. 1st DEP meeting next week. Here I go again about to take a 2nd trip down that road of letting go.

Communication....

I received my first letter from Victor. He likes what he's in for and sounds enthusiastic, even in writing....He wrote LOL after most everything he shared with me. He told me after two days of no sleep he had no strength to peel a banana so he tried to over power it and splashed his juice all over a guy sitting in front of him, the poor guy was also suffering from no sleep and just wiped his face real fast and continued eating. Victor felt bad but he claimed because his emotions were also shot,… Continue

graduation

Wow.... it was amazing, it was goose pimpling, is was a time to cry with all that pride swelling up in my throat. We left Texas and drove straight to Libertyville,IL. Went to the graduation the next morning,7-1-10, and it was fantastic. The pomp and circumstance was very impressive and then I saw my baby girl standing there looking so beautiful in her uniform. The best part is now that she is out of bootcamp and at school in FL, she has her phone and we can talk, visit, and catch up every… Continue
