19 Months

Thats how long its been since we've seen James in the flesh, put our arms around him. I have already let him know that when I see him (hoping for this summer) I'm going to squeeze him to death. his response to that was " I'll run I'd like my insides to stay on the inside lol "

But other than that all is well for James overseas. He looks good, tired sometimes but thats to be expected. Modern tech rocks!!!! Vonage, skype, computers, cell phones, emails, web cams just think how the families… Continue

Maturity

I knew my son did the best thing by joining the Navy, and this weekend is proof of just how much he's matured. He came home to surprise a former teacher who was awarded "Master Teacher" at a banquet last night. This banquet tends to be long with 12 teachers profiled with the reasons of why they were chosen. Not once during the program did my son say to me, "How much longer?" So many of his teachers happened to be there from elementary and junior high school and were thrilled to see him in his… Continue

Financing assistance from the Navy for their sailors

Does anybody know of where or whom to contact regarding help with obtaining a loan to buy a car? Our son has his own car but he wants to buy a new (used car) car that will require him to get a loan. He's only 19 so he has no credit history other than his auto insurance and his checking account. He applied online (since that's what his bank told him to do) and they immediately turned him down. Again, I'm sure it's because of a lack of credit. I would think the Navy has something to help their… Continue

The loss of one of our Sailors...

I wanted to share this article I had just read for those of you who haven’t heard about it yet. My heart goes out to the family & friends and shipmates of the sailor who lost his life. My thoughts & prayers are with you all and thank you for our fallen hero's service to our country. It’s always hard to hear about the loss of one of our military men or women. The article indicated the ship’s location, when they had arrived, and how long their deployment is but I deleted that part. Just… Continue

68 days is not enough!

I spent the better part of this week preparing for JUST the high school presentation of Scott's acceptance to Annapolis today. His dress pants, too short from internships in years past, LONG hours at the Geek Squad before, during and after the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays.... had to be replaced 2 days before the event. I had to gently wake the sleeping exhausted bear from his state of hibernation, for which he graciously thanked me later. Last night he asked about his 6 yr old brother… Continue

Can I send him early?

UGH...Sometimes I forget, even in the proudest moments, that this young man is still a TEENAGER! Heaven help me, and him. I know he goes July 1st to Annapolis, but there are those rare moments where I would like to send him early. I keep trying to remind him that even though he made it to Annapolis, he does not have it ALL figured out. I got it, I got it just doesn't cut it. I think he might have Senior-Annapol-itis....... If so it MUST be God's way of perparing me to let him go. OY!

April 18th, One Year Anniversary of PIR 4/18/2008.

For all the women and their families I met at the PIR 4/18/08, I am reminiscing about the graduation and the great friends my husband and I made. Lifetime friends, and through all the joy, sadness, tragedies, and heartache, and pride, we have been there for each other, and I can never thank everyone enough. We've held each other up, sustained each other, reinforced our beliefs, learned acronyms, played games, talked about our hobbies (to the point of distraction), and researched together to… Continue

One more Easter B4 Annapolis

Oh my, God has a bittersweet sense of humor. I had decided I was not going to cry in church today. Yup.... Made that decision before I went. Yup... sure did. Crazy schedule getting there, and Scott went ahead to save 4 seats so we could all sit together. Turns out... no one, goes to the early service. Be that as it may. 2 rows ahead of us was a kid in his NJROTC jacket from a neighboring school. Was fine until they got to the song "How Great is Our God" . Lost it then... I realized how great… Continue
