Along with many of you, two weeks ago today was the last I saw/talked to my SR. He has known for awhile what he wanted to do. He just wasn't sure about the timing. In Feb., he went and saw the recruiter, then came DEP, and then summer happened (fast). I was so full of pride and happiness for him. I was even giddy. I couldn't even talk about him and what he was doing without a big stupid smile on my face. Then the time came. It came too fast. I wasn't ready. It happened anyway. I hid my…

I was wondering if anyone got a letter yet. I still have not received one. But I got his address from his recruiter. We received mail for him from the navy credit union and it had wrong address but still got to us.

The count down began months ago when we received the news regarding my sons official "deployment" date...8/22/14. 10 months...seems like a decade of time versus "boot camp" and "underways"
Underways prepare you ( somewhat ) for the periods of time you don't hear from your sailor. I became like a teenager with a school girl crush - watching and waiting for texts / emails or if I was lucky a PHONE CALL!! In my mind I knew he was never in harms ways since I assumed he was never that far…

My girls and I were able to attend a Flag Retirement Ceremony..Was such a neat experience. Wasn't sure if i was allowed to take pictures during so I got one after with some of America's finest current and past military.. I had one explain to my girls that saying "thank you for your sacrifice" means so much more then thank you for your service, and he explained to girls to write, write, write!! and send letters to those not getting mail even if its just a handprint or drawing or family…

We have 5 weeks left until PIR for our girl. We got to talk to her a week ago and that helped but also made it hard again. This has definitely been a life experience for her but also for our family. We are all so proud of her and continue to count down the Friday's to see our SR. We have been writing letters and continue to pray that with each day, that she is also getting stronger and learning so many new life skills.
I have to thank this site for so much comfort and information. …

As of yesterday I am an official mom of a Seaman Recruit. My Son left for Bootcamp yesterday. I received 2 calls from him last night. One when he landed in Chicago and the scripted call.
I joined this site in May 2013 when my Nephew entered Bootcamp. In November my Son joined the DEP, and yesterday he shipped. I am quite proud of myself, I am doing ok I thought I would be in really bad shape. I know he is doing what he wants to do and I am so proud of him. He was so…

I am proud to say my son, James, was recently discharged as a hospital corpsman and served proudly in Okinawa Japan marine base Courtney (and others).
I need contact information for the Okinawa "DMO" or travel representative that would have boxed and shipped my son's personal belongings.
It has been 9 weeks and no one from the Marine base has any information where his valuable personal belongs are .... or if they were ever shipped home to Ohio.
Can anyone…
ContinueMy son left for boot camp 1 week ago today. I'm still feeling sad, happy for him at the same time but not what I expected. Very difficult not being able to talk to him and at least get an idea of how he is feeling. Being able to encourage him through things I guess was more helpful for me than I realized, cause that is what parents do. I know he has made a great choice and Im confident he will do fine. Looking forward to boot camp graduation but in the back of my mind I know I'm going to…
