boot camp is anywhere from 8-10 weeks I was told today

I emailed the RTC to inquire how they handle PIR if the 8th week falls on the Friday after Thanksgiving. My daughter leaves 10/1 for RTC and her 8th week would be the day before Thanksgiving putting PIR th day after.  They replied that boot camp is 8-10 weeks depending on the In Processing when they arrive and they have yet to determine if they will hold graduation day after Thanksgiving.  Has anyone had their son or daughter be in boot camp longer than 8 weeks?

Less than a Week to Go!

PIR in six days! I just can't wait to see my sailor (as he will be).  They are wearing blues, not whites. I like that. There is nothing like a son in a great uniform to make a mama proud.  I'm packing extra tissues. I'm pretty sure I'm going to cry a lot of happy tears.

Tissues at the ready

My oldest son leaves on Thursday 4/3/14 and I'm already having a hard time holding back the tears. He's so excited and I'm so proud of him. It feels just like the first day of kindergarten....putting him on that bus and watching it drive away and knowing life will never be the same. He suddenly seems so mature and has worked hard to get ready for boot camp. I've been reading a lot on the website and hope that we've done all the right things so he has a smooth start. The website has been so… Continue

These past 6 months have been so bittersweet.

Proud Navy Mom

My son, Caleb, left for the Navy yesterday afternoon heading to Chicago. He made the one phone call to me and I missed it. Was very sad that I couldn't talk to him. But at least he left me a voicemail so I have that to listen to. Can anyone tell me what I should be expecting next? I know that I will be getting a box with his belongings in it :( .  Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!

Another New Mom

Hi, I'm so glad I found this site. My son left for BC on March 20th. Does anyone have a SR that left the same time? I haven't received his box or letter yet. Just anxious to have some information.

One week till graduation.

A week from today my brother will be graduating. Unfortunately I will be watching from the stream bright and early at 6 am pacific. I know he's excited and looking forward for the ceremony. I'm making him his favorite snacks and one of the things he's been craving since he left for bootcamp, chocolate covered pretzels.

Boyfriend left for bootcamp on March 5th... (Ship 09 Div. 160)

I miss my future sailor like crazy!!! And things have been tough here at home.

I'm young, 20 in September to be exact. I've been with my future sailor for a year and a half. Woohoo!! Boy have things changed. I made a discussion a while ago (deleted it) about me freaking out because my boyfriend was giving me an ultimatum, and I didn't give him the reaction he wanted (I never think before acting/speaking lol). But all is settled now, and I'm going INSANE missing him! Ugh!

As for…
