As many of us in America have been affected by the economic crisis. My older daughter graduated from college with a big deb and us barely making it. My little one was the most affected. She slept in friends homes and my husband was struggling finding a job while living at my sister little apartment. Finally he moved to live with his sick mother and I went to do volunteer work in order to have a room and food. While my little one worked as a food server in a restaurant. She managed to get…

My son's at Boot Camp in Chicago also. Tried to get him to have them out about 3 weeks ago before he went. He refused so feel sorry for him if they made him have them out, but he didn't want to listen to good ole Mom so..... hope he's alright!

Can anyone tell me how I can find out on my own what Division my son is in so I can track when his Graduation from BC will be? He left January 7th and had been delayed a day or two getting to Great Lakes due to the bad weather. That's all I know. I rely on my ex-husband to give me any information. I do not know when he actually arrived there even though I asked numerous times. According to my ex husband he said he's received no more information on my son since. I find that hard to…

I am so happy to say that my daughter made it! After 5 nerve wracking weeks of being in the Fit program and coming up short on her running time, she finally passed and is now happily at her A school in Indoc awaiting her classes to start. Just thought I'd post some good news :) and thank everyone for their words of encouragement and prayers.
Hello:
WOW this has been a long journey for us. My son started the process his Senior year of High School and was denied because of a med he was on. They told him he needed to be med free for 1 year before he could try again. At the one year mark he was back in the Recruiters office starting the process all over again. it has been almost another year since he started his process they have cleared him and he leaves the first part of March for Basic Training.
He is…

You will hear faint noises, thinking it is them..walking through the door. See a reminder and their face pops in your head. You'll have a moment where you want to turn around laughing to share it with them and its empty space. Everyday I stand proud that raised such an amazing young woman. Everyday I cry hoping she doesn't feel lonely, praying she feels my love and takes strength from that. Everyday I want to hug and kiss her when she lays down at night. Everyday i want to hear her voice for…

Oh my GOD--- I'm just coming back down to earth (from 5 hrs. ago), my Sailor son on Truman called me his Mom!! Second call since being on Deployment, y'all it felt like I look at my lottery ticket-- all numbers match and I won the whole Jackpot!!!! lol He sounds great and strong (u know how we mom's be listening for something in they voice) :). I got it! I finally received his first letter! It felt like Christmas morning opening it. He started off with the less than happy news, which wasn't anything major. Thank God! Just irritated by some people who talk too much, which gets them ALL in trouble. :-) He said the people were really nice and the food was amazing. LOL! He also told me to write as often as I could. Little does he know his sisters and I have already been doing that. I did get the sense he was a little homesick, so I…

Please stop talking about ship movements on public forums. This is not only extremely DANGEROUS for our sailors but it can get their email cut off and shut them out from their loved ones for days weeks and months. So please SHUT UP about ship movements and future port of calls. Help keep our sailors safe so that they can return home. THANK YOU!

Hello "N4M & USS Harry S. Truman Group" Family, My name is Carrie (Georgia) I sign-up for N4M in 2010 while my Sailor was in Boot camp. I enjoy reading all of the blogs, before this I was not into any kind of social media but this website and the USS Harry S. Truman group (just join yesterday) has helped me feel better with my sailor out at sea. I was a little stressed like some of the other moms/dads but knowing I am not alone helps me deal with his deployment.
Remember always---…

So proud of my child, for choosing the NAVY. This will be a journey like no other. My child lives about 2 hours a way and we do not get much time together. So as boot camp is in a few months I am trying my best to cram in as much together time as I can get.
Why they live so far, was their chioce at age 13, sad time for me, yet I knew they needed dad time, too. Now that they are a teen, they want all the friend time they can get. Hard on me, I still see them as my 3 year old. Now all…

I have known this day was coming and have been mentally and physically preparing! Now they are forecasting a lot of snow to come on the day he goes so I will have to send him with his dad and a friend on the 1 1/2 hours drive to get him there in this 4-8 inches of snow they are forecasting. I was not prepared to say see ya later early! Why mother nature why? I know he will be fine, but I don't want to look like one of those parents who don't care! Melinda

If there's ever such a thing as a Navy mom hitting the ultimate lowest point emotionally while her son is going through boot camp...I hit that point today. My cell phone carrier was having major issues which resulted in my phone only being able to receive text messages. No incoming or outgoing phone calls! During the entire time my phone was down, I had a horrific feeling in my gut that my son would try to call. Low and behold...that's exactly what happened. I received a text message from…
