The USS Abraham Lincoln will be deployed for Christmas and has given approval for the ship to receive pillowcases while on deployment.   That will be 5,000 or more strong.

The main postings for this project will be in the Lincoln group under the thread called "The Lincoln Family Love Pillowcase Project".

I will update here as well so you don't have to join the Lincoln group.

Let us know what you can do to help us get the ship done!

I'll have to check out some sites and see what I can find. I have a janome that I sew and embroider on. It's really tons of fun! Like the idea of doing special pillowcases like these. Guess I'll have to do a few for HAE this winter and stock them up. do you make the pillowcase too or purchase them?
I make the pillowcases. Actually, I do the embroider then make the pillowcase. It makes it easier to get the fabric in the larger hoops.
Well i am going to give it a try too! What a really nice idea!
Lyn you did an awesome job on the pillowcases!
WOW Lyn. those are beautiful! love that carrier with the flight deck showing.

okay. some information! We will be ready to begin mailing next week. I guess that means I need to make those special pcs now. hahah.

I know that some have mailed to SAW instead of to the ship. If you are still planning to mail to the ship, then I need you to conact ME with a final firm count of how many pcs that you have on hand to mail. We need that number no later than Sunday night.

We may not need them all. At this point, we are only mailing to the specific units that we originally commited to/expressed an interest in back in Feb. ME will tell you how many you will need to mail for those saillors only.

She will notify me of your count. I will send you a personal email with the specific shipping information. I will not send thru a pm on N4M, only thru a personal email.

Please include a HAE note and mention the Lincoln family love project. Or a Lincoln Family love note and mention that you are a member of HAE.

I am very excited and my first package will be the CS unit! Jackie, get your's ready. we will coordinate the mailing date!

ME and I are looking forward to hearing from you.
Dolly posted this on the Lincoln page. so I am posting it here too. Not sure if she wrote it.

Comment by dollyslaffn 7 hours ago FOR ALL YOU AMAZING LINCOLN MOMS AND YOUR SAILORS...this is my thank you gift to you for all you have done.
IN THE STITCHES

I wrapped my arms around my big belly, full of life, and felt your kicking. As I slowly stroked the bulge of your head, you calmed, and got still.

I supported your tiny head and stared in amazement at the wonder of you, while you screamed in terror at entering the world, then hungrily nuzzled for comfort, and I supplied your need, then you slept.

I held your head in the crook of my arm as I paced the floor, stroking your fevered brow, knowing only time and your new little tooth would end your pain, and you would eventually sleep.

I wrapped your head snuggly against the wind and storm as you headed out the door to school, and held it for one last, fleeting second before you wiggled away, anxious to go.

I laid your head in my lap and felt my heart break with yours as I wiped away your tears for a lost loved one.

I felt the weight of your head on my shoulder as you shared the weight of the world you felt was on your own ,and felt you relax as I supported you.

Now you are so far away, with burdens of the heart, the body, the mind, and the soul...and I know you need me.It breaks my heart that I cannot be there to stroke your brow,to sit on the side of your bed and just listen,to soothe your troubled mind and give it the rest it needs.

But I send you my love.Lay your head upon your pillow and feel my love in every stitch.Sense me there, for I am.Close your eyes, and let the world slip away.
Share the weight of the world with me again in your thoughts, wipe your tears against me again.Snuggle into me and find comfort.Let your fears subside and your pain recede as I hold your weary head.

Lie still and listen closely and you will once again hear my heartbeat, as you did in my womb, when I carried you and held you close to my heart.

It is just a pillowcase, but it is my heart inside. And it is all yours. Goodnight,my child.Sleep well .Mother is here.
This is a beautiful poem/writing.
Whoever I sent my pillowcases to in Florida, did you get them? Kelley
Just found out about this wonderful program last wee and made a few pillowcases to add...

Vicki, your pillowcases are gorgeous. I love the earth tones. Those will match the wool blankets, I'll bet. Glad you found your way to our NavyForMom Group Page!
I just uploaded them direct from my video camera. Sorry but I'm not very techy...
