For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Bootcamp
My son left for bootcamp on Wednesday and I've been crying off and on ever since. I feel so lost not beling able to call him, FB him or contact hm in any way. I never thought it would be this difficult. I'm really struggling. I'm not worried about his safety, just feel so disconnected, like he's gone forever. He is my firstborn too, maybe that's it? I don't know, but he reached this milestone that I feel like I wasn't prepared for. Anyone else feel like that?

My daughter left Jan.17th. I cried for three days straight even at work. Then her box arrived friday and I started all over again. I thought I would be more prepared for this but I wasnt. We always told her when she was growing up its college or the service and she choose the Navy. The brief phone call was just that, breif. She said what she had to say and I could barely hear her. I felt even worse as I was saying I cant hear you, I should of been saying I love you. It really upset me.
Doing a lil better now thanks to Navyformoms.com. From what I am learning during this period "no news is good news" So I am banking on that and that she is doing well and learning the basics to become all she wants to be.

velomoon...just hang in there it WILL get better Remember to BREATHE....you can get the temporary addy from the recruiter but remember that is the TEMPORARY address for when they are in processing and the letters may be delyed or not arrive at all. BUT they do not get any mail and won't send any mail for about 3 weeks.

Well, looks like you can add my name to all the crying, sniffling, not coping well Mom's on here. My son left January 18th, and I'm in the same shape as the rest of you. I cry when I read your posts, and I cry if I don't read your posts.
This is my first post, or reply on here, am looking forward to talking with some of you to share our experiences. The videos about bootcamp were especially helpful to me, at least for awhile. Hope they help you as well.
He is our youngest son, so I'm adding the empty nest syndrome to the package as well, and my husband is also working out of state this year, so me and the dog are doing our best to cope by ourselves. I keep telling myself, "Faith, not fear".....

I'm still having a little trouble figuring out how to find the thread of the conversation that is going on. Think I have it figured out though. So many people have such encouraging comments, it's been a huge help. Keeping you all in my prayers this evening, along with all our children.

Sorry I am just responding to your comment. I'm in the same situation you are. My son left on Jan 24th and is also my youngest. Husband travels so its me and the cats. There are good days and bad days and sometimes something will just make me sad. I say someone with blue eyes the other day and that little thing was enough to make me sad. He graduates March 16th and we bought tickets so my husband, daughter and college son are all flying in from where we live to see him. His uncle is retired Navy and he is coming too! I can't wait. He called on Valentines Day. It was great but sad at the end. Have gotten some letters but he's been sick so of course that has got me started worrying. I keep counting the days. Keep up with this website. There is great support and a lot of information. Hang in there! Go Navy!

You should be getting the box soon then, the all important form letter.
- THE FORM LETTER:
You will received this form letter (from RTC) soon after your sailor recruit starts boot camp. This form letter contains four important items.
- Your recruit's SHIP # and DIVISION # (Ships which are their barracks are also named, like USS Triton, USS Reuben James. See diagram above. Don't confuse these with the real life actual Navy vessels in service).
Just below that is his address. USE THIS address - not the one that you might have gotten from the recruit previously. - Further down, you'll find his graduation date. This is his PIR (Pass In Review) date.
- Next, you'll see the password you will need to download the parking pass for PIR
- Finally, you'll see the four names your recruit has listed officially as his guests. (4 per recruit - children 12 and under do not count - see the Family Guide on RTC site)
If you are lucky, you'll find a very brief note from your recruit. There is not much room to write, so don't be disappointed if the letter is short - this will be the first written communication from your sailor recruit. Click below to see an example of the form letter (Courtesy of Denise)

If you have received your form letter, find your PIR date and join one of the established groups listed below. Keep this letter in a safe place and/or scan and save on your hard disk as a backup.
Here are the most recent PIR groups formed. Join it as soon as you know the date for you recruit's graduation. If no group as been formed, one of you ladies could start one. Our trusty veteran moms in the Boot Camps moms group will take your through it (diannep, FireTeam.., Jessica, etc).
Just click on the links below to go to the groups for the PIR dates (normally a Friday). Good luck and thank you to all Sailor Recruits and their families. TG stands for Training Group. March 2, 2012 graduation date contains 9 divisions. Numbers in parenthesis are the division included.

So we received a call today from the medical office at GL saying they needed to clarify my sons allergies. Is this a normal call? We are just wondering because both my husband and I ended up on antibiotics within days of my son leaving (the 18th). Good possibility he needed abx too. Just wondering if anyone else gets these phone calls?

Fed Ex delivered my son's box today...it made me feel really good to get his things...didn't expect to get it this soon (he left the 19th) but, it made my day...now to wait for the form letter !!!!!

So I decided to call my SR's recruiter just see if he had any info regarding PIR date and ship/div # info--I'm anxious! Returned with ship 03 Div 089. Any chance this could change? Would this also mean his division is full and he's now in week 1?
