Any faimlies with sailors on carriers? My son is just going to report to the Nimitz... just thought it would be nice to get to know other parents whose sailors are on them and how much contact do you get?

My wife just received her orders to USS John C. Stennis. She will report on October 5th until may 1st 2019 when the ship will change port to Va. Do any of you know if they will move us with her to Washington for these months or we will need to way until the ship change port to Va? I believe the ship is already deployed

The home port shifts make me do a happy dance.  My son will at least be a little closer.

Hi NavyBrat, he's doing better. received his clothes finally a few weeks ago. he's 19 I guess he is at that stage where they think they know it all, but time will tell. LOL!

Hmmm, port calls. Carriers don't get their fair share. As I recall we broke the record for consecutive days at sea on my first Westpac, and then broke that record ourselves the very next Westpac.

You extended for all the port calls you thought we were going to make? LOL, LOL, LOL. Never mind you had to be there.

Phoenixmom, he is going thru that stage right now. I wouldn't worry too much about him. He'll hit the homesick stage soon enough.

Hi Wisconsinmom I do check the carrier facebook  he mentioned he stays close to the people in his shop as he calls it, He is a EMFN, I wanted to send him snacks and stuff like that but he said he was good, I don't have any info, not even to the Norh Isalnd base where he was stationed. Right now I'm rying to get him to find and send me a tracking number, he said he sent his clothes and we haven't received anything. Im worried.

Phoenixmom you might try looking on facebook to find the group for your son's carrier. This site was very busy when my son went in 10 years ago but as other social sites got popular it has slowed down here. Keep looking, you'll find people. Are you on the official ship website?  When they first get to a carrier the sailors have to spend time doing a rotation helping in the mess and other areas. It's called cranking. Plus they are busy learning ship life and doing qualifications on the ship.  Your son may be worried about the small space he has to keep what you send. I sent mostly snacks and things he couldn't get on the ship. They supply the ship store when they stop or get a replenishment but everything sells out very quickly. I'm sure eventually you will get an address. Do you have a stateside address? A package sent to his home base might eventually get routed to the ship.

Thank You I wouldn't want that to happen or for him o get into trouble, and I do not share with my family. He will not give me his address I haven't a clue why, He told me he is fine he doesn't need anything, to me that wasn't the point of me wanting it and it would of been nice to send him a package. I guess time will tell. Thank You for sharing Stacy37075 I appreciate it. It has been pretty hard getting to talk with folks who may have a Loved one  on my Son's Carrier.
