Lowering of Flag Ceremony Every Evening At Dusk & history of the Base

It's well worth taking the time to see the Flag Lowering Ceremony!

THE BUILDING OF LEMOORE NAS

In 1954, the Navy searched the Northern California-Nevada area for land to build a master jet air station - one with congestion free air space.

Lemoore was chosen because of its central location, good weather for flying, relatively inexpensive land and the nearby accommodations. Construction started in 1958. With base housing, administration facilities and the flight training areas in operation, the air station was commissioned on July 8, 1961.

Located in the San Joaquin Valley approximately 40 miles south of Fresno, CA, nearly 5,000 military and 1,000 civilian employees work onboard, with an average payroll of $120 million per year.

NAS Lemoore's primary mission is to support fleet carrier squadrons. The heart of this mission is the operations area. Designed to support more than twenty fleet squadrons, it serves as a master training center for carrier-based strike fighter squadrons of the United States Pacific Fleet.

I hope he can find if it was the shots that got him sick or the flu, I would love to know what the shots were. I know boys can be stubborn when it comes to going to the dr. hopefully he went. I know that you probably felt better getting to talk to him. Keep us posted.

I will ask my son he had an indoc class today and is not working. Don't they have doctors on the base that can see him right away?? I hope he will be ok Kim. You think that they should have been given all the shots that they needed in B/C they sure got enough of them there!!

My guy is doing better, hje has been hanging out with someone he works with.
He is quite a bit older than him but I guess they are getting along good. He has been to Yosemite and Sequoia Natl. park. Those places sound beautiful
according to him. I am counting down the days till we go to Lemoore.
JstHeidi doesn't the Navy provide transportation for your daughter??
How long will she be gone for this time?? Seems like she just got back?? :)
