P Bear - My son said the same thing !!! I told him be Me with my son in Afg and then come and tell me not to : )   We do have to be so careful what we say here.. But I will always be grateful to TDM for connecting me to the Marine moms : ) And if I haven't said Thank You I am Now : ) Thank You TDM

PBear, you son and mine are a lot alike! sounds like him..he used to fret and fret over these online boards. He still lurks on the Corpsman board, and he will email me or call to say "tell that mom to yada yada yada..." or tell me " get that off that board now, mom!" I don't know if he comes to this one, this one is really kind for just mom fears and talk...and he trusts me to follow the regs, etc. But there is a reason we don't share our names and our kids names with one another online in public boards....so no one (even those in their units or commanders) can connect the dots to know who we are exactly referring to..I'm alot more open with my son safely in the US on a base here.

So, if  you think sometimes I'm picky and bitchy, it's cuz I have a son like PBear's who pays attention and watches out for us and each other!

Send the food PBear...and photos of his dog/cat....you'll start getting the "I like the _____ you sent, mom" soon, so you'll know you sent the right stuff!

P Bear - Good job going out !!!  I have had the samething happen to me NO KIDS for EASTER : (  It is very hard...  I don't know about everyone else in the group but I would bet all of us have had one of those days while our child has been deployed..  : ) I agree with what TDM said so many people are unaffected by this war and what I do is use my FB page to once in awhile show my 104 friends ( more then half are my Navy/Marine/and Army friends ) but the other half  don't have anyone in the military and I feel its good for them to see my post and I hope read it... You did good : )

P Bear....all you did was prepare that mom of the cowboy for her future, you did her a favor. Plus...there are too many people out there in our country totally unaffected by the fact that our country is in two war zones, so it never hurts to bring it home to some folks. Costco is a great spot to start! Disneyland, too! Enjoy yourself, take the photos, send to your son or post on your facebook so he can see. He wants you to have a life while he's busy. Share it with him.

I've been looking at the photos the moms and the boys from the 3/5 have been posting on facebook of the return celebration! So good to see those "return home" hugs and those young heroes at the beach and in the pool. And their moms with such big smiles!

Rysony, I bet those bomb dogs have a great retirement tho, for stepping up to do their jobs 24/7. Talk about focus!

Much trouble! Thanks for the wonderful comments. I am going to pass on to Ry. I actually feel sorry in a way for the MWD;s. I have been several times to the kennels when I was in Corpus and went with Ry for weekend kennel duty. They keep the dogs focused on work and play comes when they have found something or done something. It is different than police dogs. They live at home with their master.

Susan from SC, You hit the nail on the head.  Maybe that is part of the N4M magic...your son is my son, and when I'm worrying ang caring about all of them I can't panic about one.

Rysony (I finally figured out your screen name!  LOL)  I was talking to my son about dogs...asking if he adopted one of the local dogs while he was there, and he told me that local dogs aren't allowed near where he was.  The local dogs are diseased and aren't allowed anywhere close to the military dogs.  Then he went on to say our dogs and their handlers are the most important thing over there.  That is just one (experienced) Seabee's opinion, but I thought I would pass it on to you.  Your son IS greatly appreciated by the other troops!

We are all so proud of our soldiers and my gosh we are all so blessed to have each other. Ry is not good at sending pics to me but was determined to get those pics to me before he left out today on a mission that he has not previouly done with a group of specialists is all I can say. I am not happy and will be jumping with joy when he returns! I always think, my gosh how many more times do I have to go through this? When I am at the VA yes there are some things you do not want to see. Lots of things. I feel like I am doing my part for our soldiers over here. My heart is heavy and my stomach is , well you all know.
