Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Chief88...I agree with everyone... This is YOUR day! Soak up every nuance of him, then come sit with us tomorrow. In a way, we are blessed...we appreciate every minute, not knowing when we will have more. So many (non military) moms take their kids for granted unless something happens and it is too late.
TDM...I have to tell you I LOVE that cartoon and it is snagged for future use. How perfect! That could be a logo for this group! LOL

One major initiative is to cover the April 15 payroll for those active duty members who have their direct deposit of pay at Navy Federal. "By covering the mid-month pay, come April 15 our active duty members will not see a difference in their direct deposit amount, as if there were no shutdown,"
Navy Federal will advance funds for Apr 15 payday
(unfortunately, my son doesn't have auto deposit with them, but fortunately, he's as tight as they come and has savings ...even still part of his enlistment bonus from over 5 years ago!)

I haven't read that the LX and commissary will be closed, Emilie. And by "other facilities"...do you mean the medical facilities? Since we know our corpsmen are working, I'm pretty sure that one isn't true. Where did you get your information? Please share a link to the news source, we really need no more rumors floating around right now. Thanks!

Thanks for the post Regina. I am sure that some will have to take advantage of the services but just pray that the budget will work out. We are in the same boat. My husband works for the Government and he is mandated to work. He however will be paid in due time unlike some who will not. You all have a wonderful weekend=)

I am just so surprised they say the commisary and other facilities on the base will be closed. WTH - just sayin' - if I was in charge the base facilities would remain open for the guys/gals/families serving in the military! I am in SHOCK! The gym and everything closed! I understand the pay is really something but thanks now everyone has to shop in town and can't just stay close to their "home" they have to go out on the economy to live - it is truly beyond me - what about the guys/gals/families with no transportation off the base? Sorry I just had to say.
