OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmust importance. Please take the time to read the Opsec and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names are never allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

Sorry I've been MIA ...... Again. Christmas went well! Got THREE calls from my sailor throughout the day. He sounds great! This was the first time I heard his voice since I received the "I'm here" call, which I was half-asleep for.

I cannot believe how close we are getting to PIR! :)

kimberlydale:  Most likely, you will have weekend daytime liberty with him like FTLW said.  If you can stay until Monday morning, I would do it!

lhgirl:  As long as you have all of the paperwork relating to the vehicle purchase, including proof of insurance, with you...I think you will be fine to drive on the base.  If you are still concerned, you can take the hotel PIR shuttle.  But I think that the paperwork/proof of insurance/temporary tag will be fine.

Ladies, remember that we can't post BattleStations dates on this board or in the discussions above.  You can private message them to each other on here if you like, but they can't appear on the boards. Once each division has gone through, you can post about it when waiting for the "I'm a Sailor" calls...which usually start coming in around 2pm GL time the day they finish (but can go for awhile).  Please be sure to read the BattleStations discussion above for more info.

Hoping that those calls will be coming "soon" for some of you!  I have two possible dates for the first 4 divisions of this PIR group.  If you need a date, please friend request me.

"afternoon" not "afternoon"

kimberlydale - I am going to guess that your Sailor will get liberty for the weekend like a Great Lakes "A" schooler would...but there could be so many scenarios. They may have paperwork to take care of and also have watch. My son was supposrd to leave the day after PIR. He got extended to Sunday morning....but he called the Tuesday while I was flying to tell me! Things can change that fast. We had a Thursday PIR. I had booked through until Sunday on the advice of the great moms on here...had two more precious days with him! He had watch in the late afyernoon on Friday...and had to be back in his compartment by 8 that night so Friday was short. No time to leave base again after his watch. Got to go to Ricky Heaven though and have dinner with him there!
Since most people have to be home by Sunday for work the next day...also the cost of staying...we suggest staying until Sunday if it fits into your plans. I was prepared for him to leave on Friday...would have went sight seeing the next day!
The very bottom line is...make the best plans that you can and your Sailor is your best source.

Sukie - Did it work yet? I use IE and when it takes me there I get the grey page with a loading box. Once it loads it is still grey and I get a box that asks to enter the password. That's as far as I get though as I don't'have a password anymore! Make sure you enter it in all caps.

"of" not "if"

No, no signs, it's an...geez I can't think of a word..."dignified" keeps coming to mind...but it is joyful! Plus, they obscure the view if others.
PIR stands for "Pass in Review" so your new Sailors are being inspected by the upper brass. It's an official ceremony.

Pictures - You may only take pictures inside the PIR hall, not outside. You risk confiscation of your camera and your Sailor could get in trouble.

Popeye's Mom go to www.bootcamp.navy.mil and click on families and f.a.q I think you will find answers there under Graduation/Pass-In-Review.

lhgirl72-

We just want to know if you can have signs or anything at PIR. I'm pretty sure you can't. And I thought I saw someting about no pictures inside a certain area but surely they're not talking about at PIR, are they?

I dunno-stuff just pops into my head & back out just as fast-lol!
