mtnwoman: So....you had all day Friday and Saturday with your sailor, and then he shipped out on Sunday? He is one of the first two divisions of this PIR group and they normally ship out right away.
So glad that you loved Sarge! We have yet to hear anything negative about him and are so glad that he is so helpful!
javamama: I know the feeling...When my son PIRed in 2010, I went to have breakfast in our hotel lobby after my son had left too and there was a sailor in there with his family. I was happy for them, sad for me! But was so glad that we got up there and spent PIR day with him
So glad that you both had a great PIR experience. Thanks for posting about departure days. Hoping that some more ladies will post dates that their sailors departed.
My son was in div 907. He left at 12:30 am Saturday morning, and was on his plane to Florida at 6:30 am. It was a little sad having breakfast at the hotel Saturday morning with families that still had their sailors with them, as my son was already in Pensacola before we boarded our plane for the trip home Saturday afternoon. Having him for the few hours we did on Friday was wonderful, he chose to just veg in our hotel room and watch sports, catch up on family, enjoy the comfy queen bed and eat lots of junk food! PIR was beyond anything I could imagine and I am SO proud of my sailor. Thanks so much to Navyformoms for all you do for the moms and families of sailors!!
Dianne, my son was in division 30. He had to be back on base at 8:00 p.m. Saturday night and boarded a bus at 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning to Midway. We were able to meet him at the airport to give him his cell and some small clothing he asked for, but not his laptop or anything else. They simply don't have the room for anything else. Also, we stayed with him at the airport until his flight left at 6:30 a.m. I want to emphasize that Sarge was an ANGEL the entire time we were there. Because of his taxi service (reduced rate for recruit families) and his wealth of information we were able to relax with our Sailor. I can't stress enough to anyone going to future PIRs to use his service. I AM A PROUD MOM OF MY SAILOR!!
Ladies: We are trying to update our N4Moms veteran info. One of the things we are trying to determine is if most of the new sailors ship out on Sat. Use to be that some didn't ship out until the next week, but we aren't sure that is the case now. We're are especially interested in those who had sailors in the higher numbered divisions (first 2 divisions usually ship out right away). Please post on here when your sailor shipped out and what division # so we can get the answer to our question. Thanks! Also, any other "corrections" to the info we N4Moms veterans passed out that may have changed. We want to make sure we give correct info.
Remember, each of you is now a N4Moms veteran! Feel free to join us on the PIR sites to share your info/experiences. There is usually a PIR each week, although sometimes a few weeks are skipped.
Congrats to all of the new sailors and safe travel for those returning today or tomorrow!
Such great news, CDMom. I hear of so many who just want to go back to the hotel room, take a long hot shower/bath, and sleep! Mine just wanted to "hang out" with us and didn't care what we did at his PIR. So glad that the rest, prayer, and "mom's touch" worked its miracles on your new sailor!
Heather'sMom: Yes, isn't the communication connection being restored now...wonderful? Enjoy and congrats to your sailor!
What a whirlwind of a weekend! PIR was wonderful, our sailor is very happy and all checked in to A school. We were able to spend all day today with her and am very glad that we can now call, text and communicate. Although I needed to ask her something when I got home and almost forgot that I could just call her and ask. LOL
What a fantastic Celebration!!! So proud of our Sailors. Our Sailor was sick, but after he slept three hours, prayer and some momma nursing he was 100% better the next day.
Here is the link to the photos of PIR from RTC FB:
MrsBis: Order the DVD soon as they only produce a certain number of those.
So glad it was a special day for all! Always good to hear another rave review about SARGE, kimberly.
It has been a wonderful weekend !!!! The graduation ceremony was fantastic!!!! We contacted SARGE and he has been a wonderful wealth of information and really helped to take ALOT of the stress out of getting around an unfamiliar area !!! THANK YOU SARGE.... and Bravo Zulu !!!!
