OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmust importance. Please take the time to read the Opsec and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names are never allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

ProudAubreyMom - it's just the frirst one...he's got two more to go! The first few weeks of BC are hard and that can be rough on the run part. Mine did not pass his until the third one....but he did! Lots of prayers going out to your son and to any who are struggling with the PFA and float!

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on December 2, 2011 at 10:44pm

That is so true, happens a lot and not just the run. It seems several of the recruits in each group also have a hard time with the float but they will get it. The others in their group will help them and so will the RDC's. They want them all to pass and want them to do well. When their DIV does well it makes them look good so they will help them too :-)

ProudAubreyMom:  Yes, I agree with Betsy.  Please tell him that the N4Moms veterans (all of us have been on here over a year, almost 2 yrs for me) see this all of the time and that most all will make their run before PIR.  He may feel like he is the only one, but he isn't.  Others are struggling too in the other divisions, I can assure him.  Prayers for them all...they get lots of practice...there are 3 PFAs...the last one is given about a week before PIR.  So he'll get there!  Hoping that his next call is a bit more encouraging...it hurts a mom's heart when our children are down like that...but this is so typical of bootcamp...the emotional rollercoaster...down one day, up the next!  Hang in there...

ProudAubreyMom, he will have more opportunities to try again and I've heard that the other SR's can be their best cheerleaders.  I'm sure his division will be helping him along.  You are doing everything you can for him with what you are doing now.  My prayers go out to him to acquire wings on his feet.  :)

Comment by Proud Aubrey Mom on December 2, 2011 at 7:58pm

My son called me on Monday and sounded so down.  He said he did not pass his first 1.5 mile run and felt like he was one of the worse and slowest in his Division.  That just broke my heart.  I send him cards and letters about every other day and have been sending messages to all of his friends on facebook to continue writing him so we can keep his spirits up.  I am so nervous for him.

Comment by Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor on December 2, 2011 at 4:51pm

Ladies, your SR's will start feeling more confident and a little more at ease around their 4th week of actually BC.  (processing week not included).  It's hard for them to come together in the beginning and they are insecure for sure, but eventually they will do it.  Just imagine how difficult it must be for the RDC's to get men/women from all over the US in place and do what they need them to do.  .  They are all getting yelled at, threatened and probably very little praise at this point.   Just keep those letters full of pride and encouragement.  Remember that you are all their biggest cheerleaders now.

@phoenixmom - My SR has been talking about getting set back a lot as well. I'm sure that they will be fine, as long as they start working together as a team. He said that has been difficult thus far, but maybe it just comes with time! Here's to the best for them ALL!!! <3

Thank you Diannep!  He is so worried about being asmoed he's afraid he won't make it if that happens.  I keep encouraging him to do his best and keep pressing forward.
