That is a good idea allie, but like you I sent regular pics. I sent 6 or 7 4x6 prints.
@Twinmom - You can send pictures, but remember that they don't have much storage. I have read that people have scanned the pictures onto the back of their letters.. I haven't tried it yet, as I've just sent regular pics, but it sounds like a great idea! :)
diannep-thanks for all the great info
kimberlydale-hopr you are right. their sister division is 07 033 which is my daughters so I hope we will get phone calls this week.
coomey21-same here.
Thanks ladies for all the info. its been officially three weeks today since my daughter left WOW
Thanks Diannep :)
Hoping that those who missed calls will get more soon. As Lala said, so many crazy reasons for one not to call when the division did.
Here is some info:
Division tshirts: These are designed by the SRs in that division. Pretty neat. The SRs are given a chance to order them. If they don't, you can. Here is the website and you can also order them after PIR. If you order now, you could have them before PIR if you want to wear them up there:
http://www.mwrgl.com/gen_info/rtc_graduation/div_tshirt_order_6_201...
There are phone numbers on the form for questions.
Also, for those with transportation issues. Please put "Sarge's" number in your phone. He is wonderful, hosts a MeetNGreet now (that is relatively new), and has a crew that can get you anywhere you need to go during the weekend. He is a godsend to the A School sailors as well. His rates are good...and he is full of info! Retired military himself, and has been in the area forever. So...here's his number: 847-212-0246
Your SRs will have a chance to order pictures...these are their individual formals, plus division. If they pay at the time they order, they can hold them for you until PIR, or they can mail them. If they wait to pay when you are there, you head to the NEX after PIR to pay. If you have any questions about the pictures, here's the number: 847-578-6205 Please be sure to order the PIR DVD if your SR didn't. It is $29 and to me, it was worth it. I didn't see my son during the entire PIR...but saw him when he passed the review stand on the DVD. It also frees you up during the ceremony to watch rather than filming the entire time.
If you haven't yet booked your hotel, please do so. They have very liberal cancellation policies and some of them do book up. I recommend Residence Inn Waukegan and Springhill Suites. Both are in the area with Sarge's MeetNGreet is and they are only 4-5 miles from base. Both have PIR shuttle service, and Residence is pet friendly! For those driving, consider bringing pets to visit with your new sailors!
Also, remember...pack a bag of things for your sailors that they may want to take to A School. Cells, laptops, ipods, etc. The trade off is at the airport for these things...not allowed on RTC. Or once they have checked into GL A School, had liberty with you, they can return with these things. You can take home whatever they opted not to take right now. You can always mail later. Pack a few "civies" (civilian clothes) that they can relax in while in the hotel room (full uniform required when out of the room)...and can take with them to school (can't wear those at A School until phased up but they will have some to start with).
Thank you both!
